When it seems like your life is spiraling out of control...

Honestly I pray and then think about what I do have in my life.... when that doesn't work I mindlessly play videogames like today it always helps. I hope things turn around for you, and trust me they will. It has to get bad before it gets good again right?

I used to go through this myself. I however went in and had a simple operation performed - I had my giveacrap removed. Very inexpensive, it's a non-invasive out-patient procedure that doesn't even need anesthetic. I knew the operation was successful when, three hours later, I was on the street and stopped to get a cheeseburger. The fries were cold and soggy and the cheeseburger was cold and tasteless, and I didn't even care - so I knew it had worked.

Seriously though? What I do is I crack jokes and make fun of the things that are bothering me. My train of thought is that if you can make fun of something, it's not all that overwhelming. I'm sure you've heard the sayaing, "Minds are like parachutes in that they only function when they are open"? Well if you can open your mind long enough to crack a joke about whatever's bothering you, you'll see that you mind is like a parachute in another respect - it will slow your downward spiral. Eventually, you'll slow your descent to the point where you can actually grab onto to something so you can start climbing back up. :D

I'm not a life coach or anything (although I do play one on the internet), but that's my two cents on this.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Kudos!

It seems that a good nights rest and a day off to think about things can really help clear your mind.

@Lolita: That is the story of life itself, isn't it?

What doesn't kill you, only makes your stronger. Yes, but not if you give up, in frustration and fear.

When your life seems to be spiraling out of control, when everything is happening at a breakneck pace, and you seem to have losing control and don't know how to take back the reins, try to take a break. It is difficult, but try to go off on a very short vacation out of the city/town, maybe for a day or two.. somewhere away from the hustle and bustle, maybe on a wilderness trek, mountain biking, boat ride, visit an aunt, or at least a dinner/movie outing with a few friends.

The problem with a spiraling life, is the lack of energy and focus to get it back in control, or to make sense of recent events. Taking a short break means you get some time doing something fun, maybe some peaceful time for yourself to contemplate and decide on some recent events, and the verve to get back into the driver's seat when you return.

The key thing is to take yourself off the scene of the tumultuous action, even if your family or friends are pressurizing you not to make such a foolish decision at this eventful time. Even a day's break makes a difference, you will see.

And I would suggest you to read some nice pep-talk books. "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" by Dale Carnegie and the "Chicken Soup" series are good bets.

You will suddenly realise that life isn't so difficult, and once you get through this difficult phase, you will probably look back and laugh at how simple those challenges truly were.

All the best!

eat a good healthy meal, relax, spend some time on the nexus, speak to a religious figure (if that would be your choice) and otherwise just enjoy the company of people or animals you like. I personally like to hold my young lizard and chill on here
