nachtefuchs
This has me absolutely stumped. A couple days ago I booted up Oblivion, hoping to get some skills up with my newest character. I happen to be partway into the MQ already, so I decided to take the fight into the next realm (Oblivion, of course ;) ). I hacked my way up to the Sigil Keep, took the stone, there were flames and a blinding flash of light... But I stayed put. No teleportation back to Tamriel, no closed gate (The Sigil was in my inventory) I've tried everything i can think of: ReinstallationDisabling newer modsDisabling all my modsRemoving all my modsUninstall, wiped from the registry, ReinstallTried some Oblivion Gate mods... But nothing can get the gates to close after a Sigil has been taken, meaning I can't complete the MQ (Which I want to do :( ). ---- I've also had a problem with trying to install a couple of save manager mods, but they keep failing installation/activation, saying that I'm missing a .dll file. (I'll try to get the name of it as soon as possible, I'm trying another install of Oblivion in a few hours) Edit: Here is the .dll name: MSVBVM60.dll ---- I think these problems might be related. Povuholo
You could try opening the console (~) and type: CloseCurrentOblivionGate This will close the gate and teleport you outside. But be sure to save in advance, because I don't know how this affects MQ related gates. I am in the Bruma gate quest(1st one) and when i take the sigil stone, the gate doesn't close and Burd and I are stuck there. The command you gave buddy doesn't do anything. i tried it like ten times, varied capital letters. the console doesn't respond. If i 'movetoqt,' it teleports me so as i am roasting in the middle of the sigil stone, can't take it either. any other ideas bud?
chris 07
A lot of people to have that problem. Do you have the 1.2 patch installed?

elpiggo
I don't think this is a software issue, he's reinstalled it and tried everything. Try installing on a different hard drive, though to be honest, I think it's your DVD. If all else fails buy a new copy.

People have been bothered by this bug for a long time already. I still think CloseCurrentOblivionGate is the best solution. I don't know what went wrong when you (nachtefuchs) tried it. Did you select any objects with the console while you typed it? Were you actually in the oblivion plane?

Install the game, then go to My Computer, right-click on Local Disk (C:) or whatever drive you installed it in, then go to properties, click the tools tab, then check both the boxes or click the check now button, it will fix any damaged areas of any file. kamikuze
Anyone having a working solution to this yet ? I have the exact same problem with oblivion gates not closing. Also tried just about anything i could think of. The console command "CloseCurrentOblivionGate" doesnt do anything for me either. Seems there is something about those quest related gates that is seriously messed up. And i think its the save game files that are somehow corrupted. I have tried reinstalling and patched with all possible patches with no luck. The only thing i havent tried is to reinstall and then try again with a new char. Dont think i wanna do this since i am to far witht his char already. Anyone with a solid fix/solution will be given 100 fame points by me ;) Oh and i had alot of mods activated when i started entering Oblivion gates. Can some of those have messed up my save files ? Deactivating mods and load from a save before entering Oblivion gate didnt help. "I'm guessing it's a bug that doesn't want to leave your CD, meaning you have some bad disc sectors. So this is not caused by some physical damage to a file/sector. Rather a logical error to the savefile is my guess.
