Like combat drones in Mass Effect 2 ?

Look at those hips... *drooling* XD

edit : Why not just make a replica of ED-E but with a transparent mesh/texture ?

It would look just the same.

I'm liking this idea...I had the same one myself...

basically, a device which you can carry around with you. when activated, it spawns one of the holographic characters from Dead Money, either the security holograms, the starlets or the vendor types. they all would behave more or less identically, just different variations on the same program (make it an option in the device!)

these characters would then follow you around and ensure they stay within a certain range of you at all times. if you get too far away and they can't reach you, they respawn nearer you.

they'd then attack (and probably kill) anything hostile to you that gets near.

balance is clearly an issue....sooo...

make them less effective in the daytime cause the direct sunlight interferes with their projection (manifesting as a decreased operational range and weaker firepower)

also make the projector use energy cells. both as power and ammunition for their weaponry. so when they're following you around, they take up maybe an energy cell per 30 seconds or so, and another energy cell for every shot they fire. subject to the same recycling functionality of normal energy weapon usage :)

I'd bet a pitched battle would take more ammunition than any energy weapon would....

yea kinda simular the energy cell part and day light thing might not be needed as dead money holograms never seemed to have those problems maybe make the emitters need to be crafted they are supposed to made from space age alloys like cosmic knifes so one of those a fission battery and a sensor module

well, the daylight wasn't an issue in Sierra Madre because of the clouds permanently hiding the sun :P

and if I were going to craft a hologram emitter.....I'd be wanting to use stuff like cameras (for the optics), sensor modules, a laser pistol...and yah, maybe a fission battery.

I recall seeing cameras in dead money....

but why should it use parts from the DLc specifically?

if we're going down that route, I seem to recall one of the backrooms in the Casino was dedicated to maintenance of the hologram system, in which case we can just put either the plans or a working portable prototype (or the unique components of the system) in boxes or on a table. simple enough.

problem with this concept is the awkwardness in scripting...I'd love to do it though.

heh, not saying I can't do it...

gonna open up the geck and take a look at it...see if I can make a hologram character which when spawned follows the player around and attacks his enemies...

after that its a matter of scripting an item to spawn or delete the character.
