old1eye
Hey all, might be posting on this forum quite a bit so I guess I'd better tell you a little about myselffirstly, I'm a gamer. I'm not pro, but even if I say it myself, I am pretty damn good. If you see anyone online called old1eye, 0ld1eye, 01d13y3 or any other variants, chances are it might be me - no-one else uses that alias as far as I am aware. I'm addicted to FPS, but I also play a bit of rts, and a couple of rpgs...oblivion and WoW, to be exact. What else?I'm english, but I live in switzerland. I love skiing, and I'm rather good at it. That's my life summed up, really - game all summer, ski all winter. Yeah, and never do any work.I'm also a bit of a metalhead, metallica ftw! Stampede
By the way...your username, is it from "Flesh"??
old1eye
Flesh? Never heard of it. Nope, old one eye is a unique monstrous creature from the tyranid race of the table-top game warhammer 40,000, and has a fun and interesting background and a great model.yeah, I'm a biiit of a nerd. I only collect for the painting though...
Stampede
Ah, here is some more background info for you then. Games Workshop must have borrowed the idea from an old 80s comic by 2000AD called "Flesh" Or the writers of 2000AD borrowed it, either is likely. Old One Eye was a huge female Tyrannosaur, with, well, one eye. http://www.2000adonline.com/?zone=thrill&a...mp;choice=FLESH
Malchik
Welcome, the Greeks - or was it the Romans, I'm getting forgetful in my dotage - had someone like you called Polyphemus. In fact there was a race of them I think. BTW I mean with one eye not living on superfluous denarii in Helvetia.
old1eye
...cyclops?and yeah, GW has borrowed from all over the place. They've really sold out now, the new stuff is just simplified and aimed at the simplistic new generations that our society has spawned. The human race is really going back in evolutionary terms. Why will no-one listen to Malthus? Embrace t3h apocalypse! Back on topic, GW used to release new things like that all the time back in the early days... no models, just rules. Those were the days of true table-top gaming, when the game was controlled more by the over-productive imagination of the gamers and less by the money-snatching game developers. Stampede
Hmmm, well I never played any Warhammer, but I used to love collecting White Dwarf, but no more, the new format is just unappealing to me and I seem to be getting less for my money. Pity.
old1eye
definitely. I unsubscribed this year, it had turned more into a sales catalogue than a wargaming magazine. The battle reports, in particular, just turned into monotonous descriptions without humour or detail.
