Wrye Bash Headache

So I believe I spent this whole week or 2 weeks reading up on mods, Wrye Bash(read the pictorial guide), uninstalling, reinstalling, redling oblivion etc. So at this point I am pretty fed up and lost.

I decided to spot check and go from the ground up with nothing installed, just BOSS, Wrye Bash, OBMM. I didn't install any unofficial patches so I only have the latest updated oblivion from steam goty.

If I load oblivion with no Batched patch, it runs perfectly.

If I load oblivion with a Batched patch with just the dlc mods and nothing else, it ctd's before character creation.

Why is this happening? I have no mods installed, fresh install.

Windows 7 64bit, also attached load order. I was wondering maybe I did something wrong during the rebuild patch but I followed the Wrye Bash tutorial on that section, so I am confused.

You do not need a Bashed Patch with only vanilla and DLC installed. When you have more mods installed, especially overhaul mods, create your Bashed Patch (after running BOSS) as follows:

When you press 'Rebuild Patch', make sure that you check the following:

Merge Patches

Import ... [Go through each 'import' option and if there's a mod (NOT csv) in the right window, check it, and the Import... option.]

Cobl Catalogs [ONLY if you use Cobl]

Contents Checker

Leveled Lists

Race Records

SEWorld Tests [ONLY if you have Shivering Isles installed]

The Globals and Tweaks are optional, but should not be checked unless you know what you are doing, and should be left alone while you are troubleshooting. Everything else should be left unchecked UNLESS you know that you need it.

Hi Hickory,

Thanks for the response. I just thought it was weird that it would ctd with nothing installed. I thought it should be logical to work even without any mods installed. I just installed the unofficial patches but I think I borked my omod installation of the supplementals(lack of instruction imo).

The main issue I think was because I was checking all of my Tweak settings. I decided to experiment and remove each setting and test Oblivion.

I believe the Mayu's Animation Overhaul Skeleton Tweaker [All NPCs] was definitely the culprit but not exactly sure why?

Because you had not installed Mayu's Animation Overhaul Skeleton mod...
