Fatalmasterpiece
I've installed both Python 2.x and 3.x but I keep getting this error when using Blender. Compiled with Python version 2.6.2.'import site' failed; use -v for tracebackChecking for installed Python... No installed Python found. Only built-in modules are available. Some scripts may not run. Continuing happily.
GrindedStone
I tried installing blender 4-5 times over a few years.I figured, heck I'm bound to get it right eventually.Thankfully LHammonds has been putting together sets that tested well. Blender At Nexus by LHammonds The instructions are there too which is the part that makes it work.
LHammonds
The problem is that Blender has to have the correct version of Python if you want the NIF import/export plugin to work...which also has to match the version that Blender was based on. A common problem is that you install a newer version that will not work with Blender, then uninstall it to install the older version...except the new version did not get "completely" removed...such as environment variables still pointing to where the new version was installed. The trick to fixing this is to completely remove all versions of Python. Once all the files, registry and environment variables have been removed, then you can install the version that works well with it...as noted in a previous post. You may have to use google to research the exact steps on how to remove all traces of a python install if you don't already know how to do that.
