On the road

No matter what, I'm sure American drivers cannot possibly be as bad as Spanish ones, at least in the south. And they cannot be as bad as the Portugese, who in turn are vastly out-crapped by the Italians in places such as Naples. Every single day I am forced to make use of one of my dad's favourite expressions: "Do you want all the bloody road, or just the bit I'm on?!?"

I do have more specific anecdotes, but I wouldn't know where to start with so many tales of mindless road-going duhness.

There's this new idea here in Holland. Instead of showing 'the finger', they want (young) drivers to show their entire hand which is supposed to mean 'sorry!'.

I don't think it's going to work.

That's like in the city I like in, they want their drivers to squeeze stress balls when they are angry, but I've seen some drivers roll down their window and throw them at other cars. The whole idea failed miserably ;D!

Well the most recent road tale I can tell almost resulted in my colision. Here it is, we're driving down a one way road (going the correct direction) in the left lane, as we're just about to go through the intersection the car in the right lane makes a left turn and at the same moment the guy in our lane makes a left turn. They almost colided but didn't, soon after that another car coming the wrong way on the one way nearly hitting us too. Soon after that we got off the one way hoping the twoway is safer. Then there's also the time my whole family went to texas (from oregon) but the stupid freaking van broke down >:( guess how many times? 1, no 2, no 3, no 5, bingo! :P

I had a tale similar to that. I was going to the store on a two lane boulevard when all of a sudden I see this guy driving on the wrong side! it was even a two lane road! Also people in my city don't seem to know what a "four way stop" is. Even if I have the right of way, they still go. That caused a few near collisions.
