that's good, but you won't be able to manipulate your game files in that location, windows will stop you from doing so, windows will kill the game.

If you have enough drive space, let me know before you start, because we can reset Fo3 to another location. and never touch this directory while modding it.

So far using my laptop instead of my rig just in case I screw anything up...but since doing the process we are doing right now probably won't make a difference too much for now...So yeah my monitor for my rig is vga :)

ok that means Fo3 will see 1024x768 and it should not show anything higher than that.

smart thinking, it's always good to know you can do things on your own. So to be sure, your aware of windows User account controls killing gaming for every one? right?

UAC for short. where your game is installed here is that (UAC).

If you have the space there for this? I need to know now..

EDIT:

ok on the c:\drive makyp any name for a folder name.

"COPY" do not move...Copy the files into that folder.

browse to the current game folder and clip it's name so it's held in ram, while there add 1 letter to it so the system will think the game just vanished.

go to the new folder and rename it "paste" whats was held by clip.

now, if your lucky, this new spot won't be UAC and you WILL be able to mod your game and steam will be out of the picture.

you now have a steam game backed up "in steam" and one you can trash all you want.

Fomm can be directed thru settings in it to see only the game directory you tell it too use.

Big problem with (x86)....always has been. Could have been your issue too but this is what I said an "UNKNOWN":

A laptop is not where all this started .
