lv1234
Okay so launching the "new" fallout 3 from the paste folder from FOMM worked but launcher refuses to work and shows the same application error seen before The game menu launches but when trying to load a new game..it automatically crashes *We can also just move on from this thread and I can just play fallout 3 with only loading my save states from the menu when pressing esc during gameplay* (I feel like this is not worth the trouble) Edited August 15, 2015 by lv1234
Purr4me
Okay so launching the "new" fallout 3 from the paste folder from FOMM worked but launcher refuses to work and shows the same application error seen before The game menu launches but when trying to load a new game..it automatically crashes *We can also just move on from this thread and I can just play fallout 3 with only loading my save states from the menu when pressing esc during gameplay* (I feel like this is not worth the trouble)Testing ,diagnostics and dealing with Fallout3 OR GOTY Editions on a multitude of systems require A want to see what makes it tick kind of attitude. This is not every ones forte . There are a few Machines that are impossible to run this game on even though the manufactures claim it can run it, web site posts and testers all over the world show instances of custom built machines that required special setups just to run Games OF this type, not just this one. Ok, my skill level permits me to do things from creativity for creativity sake. What I have shown here are just a few way's things can be done. it's simple. insert CD, choose custom "NOT default" setup...tell it to install on an area you can trust...Trust that "Windows" will leave the game alone.I use some times for new games a Flash drive, a USB Toshiba is the fastest and best drive to use today. Once the game is installed, the game is registered on that OS as being installed.you can remove the flash drive, reboot and see icons are greyed out as the system though booted up..missing said data...it still booted.you plug in the use drivce..the system will not see to repair that icon that's grey'ed out ,but the icon will be active...why? because the targeted data is there...in the path so stated in the registry keys. so verified the game is there..still leaves things open.reboot and the icon "should now be repaired. Windows has always had a problem with desktop icons, it's flaw. all things are flawed.Direct x deals with graphics display of 3d components. Not all processors can process some of these effects...So these machine that "can not process the game" lack the instruction codes in the processors to actually display the software instructions..."Intel" chips...IBM chips....and so one , old and out dated. Brand new machines...lacking the dx code in the CPU cores have to rely on GPU's for this...AKA cards, express slots built to handle graphics...this kind of graphics. and it goes on and on. but, any PC that can process the OS and has the ability to install and use today's modern graphics software can run this old game easy. It's the security that stops it all, windows is the foremost culprit here. IT is what stop the game from running ,not the game.IF the drivers are there, and everything the game was once built on is there, then it will run no matter where it is. getting past your PC's software security is the problem..now..2015 new OS is here, this problem is faced by millions ten fold.Old, Obsolete data is being phased out for the new world products....with a catch.you and I are that catch. you get all caught up in it like a fisherman's net. Don't be a fish. Build a better boat.3 files are all that's needed to be in the games directory before you even launch a default game. Those files were posted, discussed and the tools required to operate them discussed. Diplay systems Graphics settings, Direct x controls aa and things all come to bare. That desktop there you look at is the medium used for this game. I will type out a *.bat command here that will stop all of this dumb stuff...and I am hopeful a permanent fix. I do not know how windows 10 will act on old world programing, but I am sure it must obey CMD command structures.[test]taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exeFallout3.exeexplorer.exe[/test] new way to do things is always there. you just need to know how..want to know how and not give up.let me know what happens.kitty
lv1234
So what do you mean by disc/CD?
Purr4me
So what do you mean by disc/CD?where the game comes from, other wise the info does not apply with steam...you would replace the instruct info with steams download programs.
