spectic
Hey, so I made a new location mod with the CS, and I want to upload it. However, I have no idea what the CS has done with it. Oblivion and the CS have no problems opening the file, but it doesn't seem to be in the data folder! I even tried saving a nwew mod and I can see it in my data folder in the opening thing, but I can't access it. All my files also have a lock in front of the default icon. I tried copying it from there but it says it no longer exists. What do I do to get it?
Hickory
You are a victim of Windows' UAC, which ghosts your plugins to another location (a hidden 'virtual store') outside of the protected Program Files folder structure. The permanent solution is to uninstall Oblivion and reinstall outside of Program Files -- somewhere like C:\Games\Oblivion. To get to your original files, type the following into the Start >> Run box: %localappdata% Then open the Oblivion folder.
spectic
Thankyou so much! Though, when I open the Oblivion file in the localappdata thing, it only has 2 text documents "DLClist" and "Plugins". Is that all I need? Or should I copy the files to a safe location? Then again, I don't even know if I'll be able to put my files in a safe location. Could you please explain a bit further? Hickory
Ok, I'm not used to grubbing around in virtual folders, since I have my game outside of Program Files, so it looks like LOCALAPPDATA is not where your mods are stored. Try this one: %ProgramData% What you are looking for is a Data folder which will have all of your mods (.esm and .esp files) and sub directories (folders) in. If you back the complete folder, try to put it on a different disk partition, and in it's own folder.
