Skrypto
I am sort of new to this whole Fallout scene, so forgive my unholy nubbiness when it comes to stating the obvious and dragging up old topics I never bothered to search for >.< Anyways, I was really getting into Fallout 3, I played it for a solid 2 weeks, and have it heavily modded,as well as F:NV, but after all that modding, my character still seems to be.... well to put it bluntly... ugly. Is this an unchangeable feature built into the game's engine? Are we all destined to walk around the desert as fugly creatures? Is it possible to get beautiful races and characters like I have in TES4:Oblivion? If it wasnt for the horrendous and hauntingly wretched design and limitation of facial customization, this game would completely PWN everything. Aaanywho, just wanted to know if beauty is a possibility because the realism and immersion seems completely ruined to me because of this. I appreciate any and all replies, feel free to share your thoughts, im just hoping its not only me who thinks this lol.
ita
Some mods have tried to rectify the problems regarding hideous faces with New Vegas Redesigned being the most prominent one, but that seems to have disappeared from the site. If you're interested in prettier female faces this might be of some assistance. Actually changing how the facial customization works might be more difficult, I believe it's hardcoded. Failing that, just take a deep breath, count to 10 and try to convince yourself that it's a game set in a post-apocalyptic nuclear Mojave desert where most people never take a bath. Edited March 3, 2011 by GenocideLolita
Firestorm01
I have a hard time with face changing all the time. Not only in NV, but in any games relaited bothesda. in oblivion i tryed to make a femail charecter, but when i tried to make the pretter (wierd) it sort of makes the look like a guy in the game (face wise). this is including when becoming a vampire. I am not a tech sabby person, i wish the made the face and body texture a little easyer to deal with.
Skrypto
@Firestorm01 : Oblivion has been out for quite some time now and the quality and amount of mods are incredible. I am not tech savvy either, but I know that the game engine it much more flexible compared to Fallout 3 and Falout NV. I dont think I have a single ugly character in Oblivion, they all look stunning, beautiful, and very very lifelike. Perhaps one reason is because of the vanilla facial construction settings allowing a far greater scope and variety, as opposed to Fallout's tormentingly limited settings. @GenocideLolita : First I just want to say that your "Crusader : No Remorse/No Regret" Avatar PWNS everything, prolly one of my all-time fav PC games  Also, I think I have managed to pick through enough textures/meshes and mods to finally be able to come a tiny bit closer to a better face for my character, and I thank you for your help in this matter ^^. Fallout 3 and NV are still relatively new I guess, and like Oblivion, I am sure there is still MUCH more we can expect in the future. The only issue I have now is to fix the new lag that came with NV, (unlike my face texture/mesh problem, this one seems just unfixable) I have added/replaced dll's, modified the ini files extensively, changed settings while both in and out of game. As of now I have almost completely removed the stutter, loading new areas no longer makes my game run choppy, and loading times are nearly cut in half. However, I must do this with no HDR settings, which for me is annoying because bloom makes things either too bright or too dark. I cant use the max resolution because the stutter will come back, and I must set land detail to lowest and completely remove shadows in order for the game to run even remotely as fast as Fallout 3(Its not like NV is boasting this ultimately more complex graphics system -.- like wth lol) Anyways ty both for your replies, much appreciated. ita
Hell yeah, the Crusader games were awesome. Too bad the franchise is long dead, I'd love to see a sequel or at least a remake. Anyway, good to hear you got some of the face problems sorted out. 8)
