Zarrell
Hi, Sorry for perhaps not using the search function enough but I can't really find a good working answer for this....perhaps there is none =/... Background (skip if you'r lazy):I recently decided to try and get Oblivion working on my newer computer. I had Data folder and savegames stored since earlier, after a lot of patching/troubleshooting mods I finally got it to work (although the game crashes pretty frequently =/ )Anyway, my 2 latest save games have gone corrupt (or atleast that's what oblivion claims) and are saved exactly after I complete shivering isles main quest, the save I managed to retrieve makes me lose around 20hours of game time, it sets me back to roughly the time right before I started the SI-main quest... I want my Shivering Isles main quest completed and I don't wanna play through the same quest again, not even with "MoveToQT"-command, I tried and got bored anyway xD Now to the question: How do I achieve quest completion and the exact result as if I were to complete it "manually". I've tried "setstage"-commands and go through the different quest-parts, I've tried "completequest"-command however it just seems to fool the game into falsely thinking I've completed it. Some characters still respond as if I were at an earlier stage and when I enter certain places I get a questupdate/notification for that area as if I were at and earlier stage and at that point my character freezes. Another example is outside the Sheogorath palace I still have two order-obelisk/stones (or whatever theyr called) from the final battle. It seems as if the console commands almost only change the journal...How do I get the world/characters to change according to the quest stages!? Anyone got any good experience on this? Or a link to another topic with a solution? Thanks!,/Will
David Brasher
Maybe you should shop for a savegame to download. A lot of people upload savegames from various stages of the game. What you want to do is not really feasible. You can't really make all the changes to your savegame from the console because the console accepts slightly different commands than scripts and result scripts accept. If you want to do this task, you will need to type in hundreds of lines of console codes. Depending on your skill with the CS and as a scripter, it might take you more than 20 hours of sifting through data in the CS to extract the hundreds of console codes you will need to type in. The result would still be inferior, and you could end up with a corrupted unplayable savegame or things like NPCs that you dealt with in the quest treating you like a total stranger. It would be easier and more fun to just spend 20 hours playing Shivering Isles again than to spend 20 hours doing this programming/debugging sort of work in the CS and console. Hickory
There is no solution to your problem, at least not in the manner that you would like. The console is a debugging tool only, and is not able to alter in-game variables and timers in the same way that game scripts can -- console commands are very limited. For now, take a look at the forum Corrupt Saves thread.

It is as I feared then. Thanks for the insight! :)Niether programming nor replaying appeals much to me so I think I'll skip the quest and just snatch some SI-Items from the testinghall  . I wasn't planning on spending much more time inside the shivering isles anyway, the satisfaction of just knowing I have completed it earlier will have to do  There is no solution to your problem, at least not in the manner that you would like. For now, take a look at the forum Corrupt Saves thread. That's too bad, Oh well.. Doesn't seem to be a way to recover my saves as they are from my old computer where I only copied the few main saves, not the entire folder with autosave/quicksave :pinch: However, the thread did give me an indication of what might be the cause. I remember isolating the "keychain mod" as a cause of not being able to launch the game, some people say it also corrupts saves over time, might also be why my game crashes more frequently than usual, I'll try disabling it. Anyway, thanks for the answers! I guess I'm lucky to get the game working with my old mods and saves, I retrieved it all from my old crashed computer harddrive  Edited March 4, 2011 by Zarrell
