Elbethien
Is it possible to make NPCs use a certain path?I want an NPC travel by boat up and down the river. I made a path for him on the water, but he is always using the roads. Is there anything I can do? EDIT: Here is my work file so far, mabe someone can solve this.https://wt8g64050.homepage.t-online.de/nexus/npcboattest.zipIt is with BSA. I gave a simple quest to it, just to find the sailor quickly.currently he is stuck in an eternal search for a road.... >.< If someone can solve this, he/she will so get thanks and mentioning in the release. ElderScrollsFan001
Dose your pathway use the blue pathway boxes?
Elbethien
Yes, but I also had red, since I have tried both colors. No luck. The next road it much further away from NPC, but he still prefers it.
Surilindur
The blue pathnodes are tagged as 'preferred', red ones have been hand-placed and yellow ones have been auto-generated by the CS. Does the NPC have 'allow swimming' ticked in the AI package? You could make sure the pathnodes (every one in the 'chain' on the water surface you want the NPC to travel) are blue, so they should be 'preferred' by NPCs, and that you have 'allow swimming' ticked in the AI package (just in case it could affect riding, too). If the 'mount' is a creature, check its settings so that it will also be able to swim. Just in case. I have never tried to make anyone travel by boat - or even on water - myself, so I cannot help you more that that. The idea sounds interesting, though. Shame I do not want to turn my Oblivion into Battlefield Vietnam for immersion's sake. :P Edited July 30, 2015 by PhilippePetain
Elbethien
:D Don't worry, this is as lore friendly as possible. I even could publish a Carabao free version, since that animal is Asian. The boat is a lovely sailboat.Thank you for your help! I'm getting closer to a working sailor now :)
Elbethien
All right, it seems NPCs hate water and waterwalking so much, they can not be forced that easily. I'm not giving up quickly, but I get tired of this stubborn NPC.
Surilindur
That sounds tricky... maybe I could try to make something out of it, too. But not too soon. I myself have gotten enough of making mods for today. I just cannot make NPCs sit down at a random chair. And it is killing me! I want sandboxing! Sandboxing! Like in Skyrim with EFF. And then I have a few other projects, too. I had hoped they would all be ready by Christmas, but now it seems only two of them will be sure to make it. And it is driving me nuts, to have to spend hours and hours trying to make NPCs interact with surrounding furniture when the mod is almost ready otherwise. :wallbash: Well. Maybe things will be better tomorrow. Sleeping usually solves most tricky problems for me. Edited July 30, 2015 by PhilippePetain
Elbethien
It would be very nice if you could help, or at last try.Yes forcing NPCs can be tricky, stubborn as I said.I can not remember exactly how, but I have made a mod with NPC forced to sit on HIS chair and even that was not easy. OK, I was a modding beginner at that time.Good luck with that!
