yk0520
After looking over the system specs, I was wondering if my system will be able to run DA:O Ultimate Edition. My specs are CPU: P4 2.3 GHz (running at 2.45)Memory: 4 GBGraphics: Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT (512 MB)OS: Win XP Home SP 3Sound: SB Audigy 2Direct X: 9.0C Not the greatest system, but is holding up untill I can get a newer system. Can currently run Fallout 3 at medium settings/all effects on or at low/mid settings with no framerate loss or High settings with no discernable loss unless in very crowded areas (Bethesda says only at the lowest setting with no effects on). Will this game run on similar settings
Thandal
Your specs are well above the "minimum", but well below the "recommended". You'll experience some lag or jitter at various points. Maybe frequently. Probably have longer load times than those on beefier rigs, and you may not be able to have any better than "medium" graphics. It'll run, just not well. (NOTE: Being able to run Fallout doesn't matter, they are completely different game engines.)
Sync182
Side Note: I hate how game designers build their games on rigs that are near state-of-the-art, virtually forcing the rest of us to upgrade (or, in some cases, replace) our own systems just so that we can play their offerings. Not all of us can afford to upgrade or replace just to play the latest games.
Thandal
Well, my rig wasn't "state-of-the-art" when I bought it over 5 years ago, and the only updated component has been a (now two-year-old) better video card for under US$100. It runs DA:O (and, I anticipate, DA2) just fine. So I'm not sure what your rant is about Sync182. At least, not in this forum. (Maybe belongs over on the Skyrim one? )
alvintanasta
It will run..but not welli think you should change your VGA card and processor if you want better gaming
yk0520
Thanks for the input.. Just installed the game, currently running at medium settings with 1280 x 720 resolution 2x antialiasing and graphic/texture settings at medium. So far no problems with framerate reduction, lag or loading in gameplay or cutscenes. Will see how it goes in more crowded/active areas (reducing resolution to 800 x 600 if framerates fall too much should take care of it if that happens). DarkeWolf
if you can, use the ctrl + alt+ del keypress combination to get into task manager and kill any thing that's running that you don't need.background items can really suck the horsepower out of your system. and with this particular game, you're going to need as much of it as you can get. Also, if your game starts getting really laggy, or starts having graphics issues save the game, and shut it down. Let your system rest for a minute or two and then start it back up again. If it continues, reboot the computer.Game is horrible with ram. so sometimes you have to let your computer recycle the ram for the game to use it again. Sync182
...and...huh. Just got my own copy of DA2 and discovered that my PC meets or exceeds the system requirements in all areas. Wasn't expecting that. :)
yk0520
Finished a playthrough on Origins and Awakening and noticed very few problems with it. As for lag/framerate, I only had a few problems with that.Strangely enough,it wasn't with the final battle in origins but occasionaly in areas with very few characters/elements. One problem that did stand out was in the ending of Awakening. After the epilogue,it would replay the ending cinematic over and over.
Thandal
... One problem that did stand out was in the ending of Awakening. After the epilogue, it would replay the ending cinematic over and over.Yeah, I've encountered that behaviour on my rig (Win7-64bit/QuadCore/8GB) as well. Doesn't happen every time, and I had already heard about it happening when I first saw it during my fourth or fifth time through the final scene of Awakening. It doesn't break anything, so I didn't really mind.
