yoba333
I'm buying a Dell XPS 17 with Quadcore i7 processor and 3Gb nVidia 555M Graphics Card. My final price comes out to 2100 USD but I doubt you're gonna get a good gaming laptop for anything less than that. Don't go Alienware, I've never used one myself, but I've heard many people say that they're overpriced garbage. They overheat and weigh a ton as well. Thandal
You do know that Dell BOUGHT Alienware, right?
yoba333
Yes, but they still charge exorbitant prices for almost the same products. A while ago, I compared the prices of two 15 inch laptops, the Alienware 15x and the Dell XPS 15. They were almost the exact same and the Alienware was about 1000 dollars more expensive. Edit: Like I said, I haven't ever used an Alienware, but I was considering buying one and when I asked around on these forums and others I heard that they weren't worth it. Vecna6667
When I got my Asus G72-GX from Best Buy back in October of '09, it was around $1300. I've now seen a G73-JH at the same Best Buy for around $1200 and it is the Radeon Mobility HD 5870 model and not the GeForce GTX 460 model(G73-JW) that I hear is around $1800. JimboUK
thank you for the suggestionsmany people say alienware is overpriced, They all are, you'd be far better off with a desktop for gaming, cheaper and far more powerful.
Vecna6667
Alienware can be overpriced if you don't know what you are doing. I've checked their website in the past looking at the ratings for their M17x machine and looking the lowest ratings for the machine. Almost all the time, the lowest ratings have been because they put in too much machine for their needs. One person maxed out every option($4500 at the time) just to play World of Warcraft(the only game he owned and intended to play on the machine) on the laptop monitor. Now to keep in mind his options, that is 2 Radeon Mobility HD 5870's in crossfire X mode, a core i7 that can reach 3.2 GHz in turbo mode, 2 160GB SSD in RAID 0, Win7 Ultimate, 12 GB DDR3 Ram, on a 17" monitor that at most supported 1920 X 1080 resolutions. You could play Crysis at 1920 X 1200 resolution with little problems on this machine build and Crossfire/SLI is only recommended at resolutions greater than 1920 X 1080.
