HeLLL
Ok its Offical. windows hates me. Now before you start saying the usual tech stuff like "Well have you done this and that etc etc" Im a computa techie so yea MOST of the pooe I have tried but this is my conclusion. Me + linux + windows + firebird + stampy = STOP 0x000000DE So I was MSNing Stampy and Dusk and guess what. 5 STOP errors in 10 minutes. No pooe. Ok so I hack my PCs to death. Big Deal. I mean serious XP doesnt need to have that stuff loaded into kernel space. Its a waste of raw processing power that could be devoted to increasing my frame rate even more :) YEs my box is OC but.....the interesting thing I have noticed is that it only happens when I am dual booting with nix. Seriouslly. After a fresh toasty format. I install XP <and call the stupid Activation dude and spend 10 minutes telling him why he should give me another Activation key <_< > So anyway I reinstall XP with all the latest drivers and Patches and things are soooo sweet <As in morrowind and the like. It still doesnt like me playing with its nervous system>. So I then proceed to install the marvel of the geek universe. Linux. Depending on how I am feeling I will either install any number of SuSE revisions or Debian woody <Me no like unstable. Bad unstable>. So after I have configured linux and thats running sweet <both XP and linux hacked to shreds> I try to do ANYTHING under Windows for more than 1 hour and it packs a STOP error. So I reckon that XP can detect that I have linux on and it goes on its merry way to "Raise HeLLLs blood pressure till he breaks things and swears really really REALLY loud".OK so I know I should just run a default Windoes install and leave it be with no OC but why? Even if I do that XP still slaps me with a STOP error. Oh and even though I have SP-1 installed that gives you a "choice" *cough* anti-trust BS *cough* over which programs can be set as default. XP HATES Firebird. Wierd aye. Have any of you guys/gals had/have the same/similar "fun"? Or as Stampy put it "Man you just broke another record". Darmoth
Yes, I, too, have also had problems with Windows... Namely, I suck at Pinball... Actually... I rock at pinball, but have no problems with windows, my new house has these nice ones that open up and out from the inside so they're easy to clean. :P
Mojlnir
I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to this stuff, but I dabble in the depths of XP when I'm bored. Could you partition your HD and bury Linux in a new drive? That might help sequester it from XP. If its happening every hour it might be some sort of stupid XP process (one of those sneaky background ones) that runs on an internal timer. Does it work better if you don't remove the stuff from kernel space? There might be some little buried do-hicky in there that's actually important. I wouldn't put it past those clowns to do it. Anyway, that's all I got. Sorry.

Well my hdd is like this <nix styles> /dev/hda = Primary HDD /dev/hda1 = Windows /dev/hda2 = Nix Swap /dev/hda3 = / /dev/hda4 = /home Oh the whole "1 hour" thing was just a toungue in check thing. sometimes it can work sweat for 3 hoiurs then crash constanly after half an hour. With the process I have a very good idea of what is needed and what isnt. And I constanly troublsehoot my hacks <2 months of troubleshooting learnt HEAPS about XP>. Daerk
Actually, I encountered this, too. Problem isn't the Kernel, it's the Shell. Bypass the default shell and replace it with something stable that doesn't try to integrate so many flipping non-essential CRAP functions into it, your stack dumps stop "STOP"ping. :) May I suggest, my shell??? actually it's not mine anymore... I'm no longer on the Dev team... Litestep... running my own custom "Enlightenment" oriented scheme... and yes, each pixel on that screen is custom made for WINDOWS using Litestep/winamp/etc by yours truly. That's even a pixel by pixel custom design of E, not ripped from *nix/*nux at all. -- D
HeLLL
Wow ok let me get this straight this is a shell for Windows based on E?
Kethruch
I don't know if this will help, but I was having trouble with some things, so I just added a second hard drive. Now I boot with the normal drive, but have the choice of accessing the second drive instead. If one had XP and the other Linux, would that solve your problem?
