devinpatterson
I'm having some trouble finding information on fallout 3 resources in NV. I didn't see it in the sticky and I want to know specifically how it applies to newvegasnexus.com. I don't want to violate any terms but would like to use the ferris wheel (and carni stuff) in point lookout and the Yao Guai from the main fo3 bsa (allthough I think I'll retexture it to look more like the orginal concept drawing in the vault wiki). So can I make a mod that uses these masters and then instruct the player to use his own copy of fallout 3 and move the bsa's to the new vegas directory? Or would I still be violating the rules? viking99
as far as i have seen in other posts it should be ok as long as you dont include it in the file. i have seen mods that do this and they have not been shut down. though it is a bit of a gray area. i would search the forums and perhaps contact a moderator to be sure. Mahare
You'd still be violating the rules here - technically, you're not allowed to use Fallout 3 stuff with New Vegas, or ask about it. Ah well. What can ya do?
AllanOcelot
As far as im aware, and the logical step, is that you CANNOT contain the actual files. So, people who makes mods for dead money for instance, DO NOT PROVIDE THOSE FILES. That is against the rules. However, making a mod that REFRENCES the files on the users pc is not against the rules. So, no, you would not be able to make this mod using F03 rescources. As the user would have to download the files off you. The nexus is heavily against piracy, so the staff do all they can to stop people uploading files they do not own. I think its a logical rule. devinpatterson
Mine wouldn't contain any fallout files, just references to them. Actually I'll probably have two esp's. One with ref's to fallout 3 resources and one with out (for those poor souls who only have NV).
bben46
Most FO3 assets are already included in FONV. By one guess about 90%. Even many of those that are not included in the game. Some of the FO3 DLC assets are also included. All of these are automatically allowed. For any that are not included you will need to require users to have the game or DLC it comes from installed on their computer. For assets made by other modders, please ask the modder first before including their work. Most will allow it, but if you use it first, then wait until they notice their work being used without their permission it is much harder to get them to agree. Fonger
For any that are not included you will need to require users to have the game or DLC it comes from installed on their computer. please consider why the mod Morroblivion was banned.
davidlallen
It was banned because it *included* the morrowind resources. That is illegal. *Referring* to the resources from the other game/dlc without including them is fine. Then somebody who gets the mod, but doesn't have the *referred* game/dlc resources still can't see anything. They just get the big red diamond shapes for the resources they haven't purchased.
