Banned for life on nexus chat

I have been banned for life on nexus chat for not speaking English. One person in the room decided to add a little Spanish to the conversation, and I replied in Spanish a few times. A moderator then asked me to speak in English, and I replied with "ci". (Yes in Spanish). Immediately afterwards, I was banned. Now I waited a bit to see when I would be allowed back on. And I waited. And waited. It's been almost a year now. Now I may have been a smart aleck, but

1) It was my first month on Nexus, and first time on Nexus chat

2) Being a smart aleck doesn't deserve the sentence of a lifelong ban.

Does anybody know how and if I can get an appeal?

I don't see a ban notice for you but McclaudEagle is right, you really should be using the proper appeals process. If you don't know who banned you to pm directly, then you can use the Contact Us form that's at the bottom of every page.

@ Sharkworld78

I have read the terms of service and the chat posting rules. I could not find any terms or rules regulating the language used in the chat. Nexus is not an English language only site. I could not find a banned notice with your name. Your chat ban is indeed questionable.

General rules section - first line:

The official language of Nexus Mods is English and English should be the primary language used at all times. We reserve the right to remove any content from the Nexus sites that isn't written in English at our own discretion.

Chat entry page:

  • If a member of staff (noticeable by the colour of their names; blue, green or red) tells you to stop doing something then stop doing it. Don't argue about it as you'll probably get banned.

The chat is an English only area, as it is the main language used on site and by many of the staff - we don't want to have sift through translations just to make sure that people are adhering to the rules when they make use of the chat.

Since it seems to be your only issue, I believe that I can lift the restriction in this case. I recommend you do read over the terms of service yourself though, to prevent any future chance of it happening again.
