SushiRush
I see the potential for Fallout 3 to be a better zombie game than even Left4Dead with some good modding. All zombie apocalypse games currently out there focus only on killing zombies. I think the more entertaining aspect of a zombie game would be scavenging for weapons, food, drink, ammo, and other misc supplies during the day, and finding shelter during the night, with the ultimate goal of getting to a safe barricaded city. (Rivet CIty?) There are already mods out there that spawn a lot of feral ghouls, but what about a mod that also makes resources extremely scarce, removes the main quest, removes most npc's, and truly makes Fallout 3 a zombie apocalypse game? (Centaurs and Super Mutants still prominent in wasteland, with the occasional raider and wastelander also fighting for survival. You can recruit human npc's to your team) If this mod was made and used in conjunction with Fallout 3 Wanderers Edition (Food and Drink needs, various other amazing tweaks), Fellout (Makes game really dark at night), and RH Iron Sights (adds natural iron sights to weaons) you could market it as another game. Some suggestions: -Pip Boy light requires energy cells. With Fellout enabled, and no pip boy light, you won't be able to see 4 ft ahead of you in nighttime. Makes for a truly terrifying experience. -Only able to sleep and wait in predefined, "safe" locations. Barricaded houses, etc. You can't hide forever though, because you will run out of supplies to live! -Followers can be found scattered across the wasteland, also fighting for survival and scavenging. If you find them you can recruit them. -Small amount of radiation added daily. Without radaway, you die in a couple weeks. -Power armor is very rare, and a blessing when found. -Able to witness wastelanders getting bitten and infected. -Super Mutant zombies. -Ammo and weapons should be scarce, but Fallout Wanderers edition already has that covered. (You can change rarity of loot in Fallout WE) -No Fast Travel -Gun and equipment degrades slightly faster, however you can repair with tin cans and scrap metal to an extent. This mod should aim to make EVERY item in the wasteland someone useful. -Able to create campfires at night to cook food, stay warm, etc. -Added perks to make survival a bit easier. -Some modified locations to fit in with new lore -Start the game with basic supplies to last you a day or two, but no more. -Maybe re-texturing the ferel ghoul to look more scary? If anyone wants to even try to make this mod, you have my full support. If I knew how to use the GECK beyond editing weapon damages, I would help. Khajit187
I'd also fully support this idea. That's just the kind of "game" (well, mod :P) I'd like to play, it's just something VERY different from the "vanilla" Fallout 3. My modding-skills are not even average, but I'm sure I could help with anything. So far, Khajit
theLostYou
I have modded fallout 3 to be a fairly decent zombie survival simulation, and wrote a guide on how to do so. Users interested in a zombie apocalypse themed Fallout 3 V may be interested in the mod below V GhoulsONLY (Zombie Overhaul) by theLostYou I uploaded the Zombie Apocalypse mod. Only now, it is modified so that the zombies don't use one model they use multiple zombie models added by MMM. My Zombie Apocalypse.esp requires MMM. Zombie Apocalypse adds thousands of spawns of MMM Ghouls with unique zombie scripts that have a chance to infect humans and unique roaming AI. The original author of Zombie Apocalypse is FoxtrotZulu, who was banned from Nexus, along with his upload. All credit for my mod goes to him, I simply edited his ZombieEasy creature to follow a random-model-spawning template, his original scripts remain intact. His mod spawns zombies all around the player using an intelligent spawning script compatible with everything. His mod is the only effective zombie mod for fallout 3. It is brilliant. The only drawback was that the zombies all looked the same. I edited the ESP, so now the zombies are ghouls, but they have around 9 variations. Examine the template setup of ZombieEasy Creature in Zombie Apocalypse.esp using fo3edit to easilyy add your own variations, by duplicating the creature variation you wish to add to "Zombie" into ZombieApocalypse.esp, by first adding the ESP or ESM that contains your desired creature record as a Master to ZombieApocalypse.esp, then duplicating the creature record into ZombieApocalypse.esp and renaming it. Then add a reference to the creature record to the leveled creature list that ZombieEasy references as it's template: (VarFeralGhoul1XXX). Then make your creature record use template data, and the template that all the other zombie creature variations use: (CrFeralGhoul1AXX)
