Qualanqui
I noticed when I entered one of the casino's that you can't play poker the tables are there but you can't join in, so I went to try find a poker mod but it seems that it hasn't been done and I think this is a shame because I reckon it could be a lot of fun like in Red Dead Redemption having the ability to cheat with a special suit just like in Red Dead would also be hellasiously fun. Also why is there no Area 51? Where in Nevada afterall and this seems a lapse to me with so much possibility in the way of new tech and places to explore and I also reckon a Fight Club type mod could also be fun start off beating up on folks then maybe even some mayhem hehehe.I am new to this whole mod thing as I only just bought the game a couple weeks ago and stumbled over this site a week or so ago so I wouldn't know where to start designing my own mod's of these ideas but I think it could be a whole mess of fun. Tavico
Playing Caravan, Rules of caravan, I'll teach you Caravan real easy and simple: You must place the cards to reach from 21 - 26that is, at each one of the 3 "caravans" you make in game, you play your cards to add their numbers and reach from 21-26. Example:You play a 4, than a 5, than a 6, you have 15. Then you play a 7, you have 22, that's a winner caravan. The suit of your cards matters, if you need to play a card that changes the "order" of your caravan, since the default is that you can only follow the order you start your caravan with. Example:You start your caravan with a 6. If you play a 7, you have 13 points in that caravan. Since 7 is greater than 6, your caravan order is going up, you can only play cards that go up, such as an 8, 9 or 10. You start with a 6, if you play a 5, you have 11 points, and since 5 is smaller than 6, your caravan order is going down, and after your 5, you gotta place cards smaller than 5, such as 4, 3, 2 and Ace. As I said, the suit of your last card can be used to change the order of the caravan. If you play an 8, than a 9, you would have to play a 10, and that would make your caravan score 27, a losing caravan (since it has to be from 21-26), so you can see the suit of your last card, your 9. Let's pretend it is a Nine of Diamonds. Until now you have 17 points, and you can't play a 10. If you have a 4 of diamonds in your hand, you can play it, scoring 17 + 4 = 21, a winning Caravan. A queen works kinda like a same suit card, allowing you to play a card that is the same suit of the queen you play. Let's suppose, in the last example, that you don't have a 4 of diamonds, but a 4 of Clubs. And yet, the last card was a 9 of Diamonds. But you do have a Queen of Clubs. You can play it in your 9 of diamonds, the Queen of clubs, changing the order and the suit of your last card (that's what the queen does, changes the order of the Caravan). Then, after that queen and because of it, you can now play your 4 of clubs, or even any card that is smaller than 9, since the order has been changed by the Queen. A King doubles the value of the card you put in into. Let's pretend you have a 6, and a 10, that is, a 16 caravan. If you play a king in your 10, you'll double it to 20, your caravan will become a 26 winning caravan. A Jack will discard a card from the table. If for instance you have a 26 winning caravan such as the example above, and your opponent puts another king in your 10 (I'll explain that later), it will double it again, from 20 to 40. You'll need a Jack of any suit to discard it, since 46 is a losing Caravan. You use it on your 10, taking it and all the King's with it, out of the table, you'll end up with your 6, and nothing else, starting your caravan anew. You can use your Jacks, Queens and Kings on your opponent Caravans, as he will do the same against you. You can use the Jacks to take a 10 card out of his 24 caravan, making it a 14 caravan, avoiding him to win the match. Or you can put a King on that same 10, making it 20, and the Caravan that was a 24 will become a 34. The joker is a card I rarely use, when I don't own a jack. When you put the joker on a card, it'll discard from the table all the cards that have the same value as the card you put it in. All, yours and your opponent, but the one you put the Joker in. To win, you must try to make all your 3 Caravans reach the winning number (from 21 to 26) before your opponent does the same, by any means, as I explained, from being fast with your cards, or also by avoiding your opponent to reach those numbers. Also, a 26 caravan is better than a 25, the higher the bid, the better, as long as it's not 27 or higher. All the strategies can be learned in time. I suggest that you play for a few caps in the beginning, just to learn. Play with Ringo, he's not very good, and with Brisco from the Dino shop, he's terrible. Don't play it with No-Bark, he's a good player. Betting:To make a lower bet than your opponent, press "a", and decide the amount of caps you'll bet. To rise it, it's explained in-game. Also, sorry for my bad English, I'm not a native speaker. Oh, lastly: Choosing your deck:keep in mind that suit does matter, you'll need same suit cards in crucial moments during the game, so buy cards from suits you choose, from merchants, but exclude one or two suits from your deck. Suits do not influence Jacks or Kings. I for instance, select all suits but Clubs to my deck, that improves the chances that I'll get same suit cards in my hand. Any doubts, check the official site, it didn't taught me to play, but it was important in the process. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Caravan_%28game%29 And do learn Caravan! After I did, it became a big part of my game, every little settlement I went, I played a hand, it gives the air of gambling that the Mojave is supposed to have =)
