Best Method for Alternate Start mods???

Hi, lately I've been playing around with scripting and recently I have been trying to find the most stable method of starting the character in a completely new area. Usually this is done by editing the first quest in the game, but that can prove to be a bit unstable if not done perfectly. I've opened up a few of the Alt. Start mods for NV but all of them seem to edit the vanilla quest. So basically, what I'm asking, is if anyone knows and good clean methods of making an alternate start mod. Any ideas???

It kind of depends where you want the alternate start to be?

 

You should find the first quest that is run at the start of game, and uncheck "Start Game Enabled'. Just make sure that you eventually 'start' that quest though so the player can do the main storyline.

 

Sounds like you're gonna have to come up with a way to 'force' the player to go to goodsprings early on, unless you completely rework the first few quests that are based in goodsprings. After that I'd just say testing testing and try to fix whatever doesn't work properly.. I'd be wary of some timer scripts that are meant to execute like 5 minutes after the player is dug out of the grave sort of thing. They may have to be retimed.
