vannixiii
It's been a long time since the last time I came on TesNexus and I'm not aware anymore about the latest mods which improves Oblivion's gameplay (things like new world textures like those in "Qarl Texture Pack 3", or new player's animation like those in "The Jump Project", etc.) I mean, in the world of modding, there were many "must have" mods (like a cult mod), now I would like to know what are the new "must have" mods of this era? I hope I've been clear xD P.S. I'm looking mainly to mods that don't require any sorting software like WyreBash (that I'm unable to get working -.-) or Script Extender, because after many mods, Oblivion crashes very easily. I'm trying to put togethere many mods in a new improved version to Oblivion and that's why I would like to know which are the best "gameplay improvements" for it. Obviously if you know a mod that uses "plugin softwares" to get working, do not avoid to tell me the name, I will decide if it worths to be downloaded or not ;)
Hickory
P.S. I'm looking mainly to mods that don't require any sorting software like WyreBash (that I'm unable to get working -.-) or Script Extender, because after many mods, Oblivion crashes very easily. The crashing is almost certainly because of not using sorting software and Wrye Bash with "many mods". With the new installer version of Wrye Bash, there is no reason to not be able to get it working. As to your 'must haves', there is no such list. My kind of 'must have' may not be even considered by you, and vice versa. Only you know what kind of mods you like.
vannixiii
yeah, but, for example, do you prefer playing with the old textures of Oblivion or with the Qarl's new ones?
Hickory
I am sure that every person who plays Oblivion would prefer the enhanced graphics of QTP3. That, I think, is a given. The question should be: can your mod load and hardware take it?
Telyn
You may like this list of mods which are considered outdated, and their modern replacements:http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=popular_outdated_mods This texture overhaul guide was last updated in 2009 but does show you a lot of the choices available:http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/obliviontextureoverhaul.html If you see any links there that are broken, they are pointing to the old version of this site. Just come here instead and use file search. Tweakguides Oblivion has been updated very recently.http://www.tweakguides.com/Oblivion_1.htmlThere are many tweaks you can do to improve the gameplay without even using mods. Great ini tweak section there, and they are SAFE tweaks that have been tested and actually work. AWLS is fantastic, one of the current "must have" mods for many people, and works fine with All Natural:http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18305http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19628 LODs depend so highly on personal taste and how much your computer can handle that I recommend you just do a search and compare the screenshots and system recommendations. I use QTPIII with Koldorn's textures replacing the cave and sewer textures overriding those specific textures. If you have SI, take a look at Bomret's textures for SI. There are various optimized versions of Qarl's textures. You will need to read about them and determine what would work best on your machine. If you use body replacers, there are some new bodies out there if you have been gone a long time. TGND (The Girl Next Door) is well supported in terms of clothing and armors if you like more naturalistic female bodies. If you were using the Roberts Male body version 4 before, there is a v5 now that has a lot of options. Please please do yourself a favor and use Wrye Bash and OBSE. If you are having difficulty installing Wrye Bash because of Windows 7 64 bit or Vista, help is available here, just do a board seach. There are a very few people who are unable to use it, for unknown reasons, but most issues can be resolved. I do not think you will ever have a stable game with a lot of mods unless you use Wrye Bash. If you have the Impulse version of Oblivion, you will not be able to use OBSE, but otherwise many mods require it. You should also get TES4Edit if you use a lot of mods. Many mods, and even the official DLCs, need to be cleaned of bad edits. These mistakes are responsible for many crashes. Cleaning my mods not only made my game much more stable, but it made my game much faster. I am addicted to high resolution textures, so I need a cleaned and optimized game as my foundation to minimize the impact. It sounds like you will want that, too.http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/TES4Edit_Cleaning_Guide
