billyro
Hi there. I've been trying to make an armour for the last billion years, and I've come to deduce that my problems (potentially) originate from 3DS Max itself. My main problem right now is this: http://puu.sh/jw2D6/b90a370008.jpg I believe they're called polysplosions, and are caused by an incorrect vertex count. Both the 0 and 100 weight meshes work fine on their own - anything in between gets messy. However, I've been using the plugin called So Much Morpher, which essentially takes the base shape of the armour and morphs it into the other side of the weight slider (in my case, it morphs the _0.nif into the _1.nif), which should give it a matching vertex count. However, the above screenshot is the result. I then decided to do a very basic test to see if it was 3DS Max that's screwing this up. So, I opened up the vanilla steel armour _0 and _1 meshes, made no changes to them, then re-exported and tested it in-game. Same thing: polysplosion. I didn't touch a single thing, and the mesh got corrupted. When I first open my armour meshes up in Nifskope, it appears that the partitions have some errors, as can be seen in the below image: http://puu.sh/jw5NW/3fdf988f6d.jpg However, running Nifskope's partitions seems to invalidate the vertex count between the high and low weight meshes. This wouldn't be an issue if 3DS Max exported the partitions properly! So, it got me thinking that perhaps I have overlooked something in 3DS Max that is causing all my frustration. (Also, just thought I'd mention that if I don't run Nifskope's partitions, the mesh shows up in-game as a big red exclamation mark.) This here is the view of the armour in 3DS Max with So Much Morpher doing its thing. http://puu.sh/jw5s3/7ac229f35d.jpg And here are my .nif export settings: http://puu.sh/jw5sZ/c91ca124af.jpg But these settings are giving me the aforementioned problems. Is there something I've missed? Is the problem even related to partitions? I have no idea, and I'm at my wits end. If it helps, I can upload the meshes if anyone wants to take a look. Thanks for any assistance! Edited August 10, 2015 by billyro

billyro
Uhhhhh... thanks, but not really what I was after. EDIT: I figured it out! The Weld Vertices setting in the Export Nif window MUST be set to 0.0, when initially it is set to 0.01. Changing that to 0.0 fixed all the problems and it's working properly in-game now! The Weld Vertices setting always reverts itself to 0.01, however, so you have to manually change that every time you export. But, it's all good to go, now!
