They aint there for debates, ppl would just start spamming crap, arguments would start, "he said" "she said" ect. They are just there to show who and why someone was banned as an example to others and so ppl can see the reasons X person was banned.

Having each in its own thread allows for more organization. In a few cases the threads are strikes, so they may need to be added to. Some times a user is unbanned, hence requiring an update. The threads are there for transparency, so the Nexus does not make irksome users simply disappear into the night, leaving people complaining about injustice.

As for locking them: Earlier on in the Nexus, the threads weren't locked, so people would go on them and say things like "What an idiot" or "This wasn't deserved!" leading to more moderation being required. With the locks, no public discussion is encouraged. If you want to discuss a ban, it should be dealt with via PMs to the moderator responsible.

It is primarily the way it is for the sake of organization. Sometimes additional notes need to be added to a specific case which are not appropriate or safe to display publicly. It also allows easier searching for exactly who was banned/given strikes and why. A single thread would be far too chaotic and cluttered to be of much use, especially when we have to later add to a ban report or reinstate someone.

As we do not allow discussing bans - read the rules They are posted under 'Terms of Service' at the top of every page. And, you had to agree to abide by them as part of your sign up to post here. We lock them to avoid having to ban even more people. Enough of the banned come back as trolls now. Leaving their ban topic open would just encourage them. If you read the ban topics, many are just spambots recently.
