No quest marker on the map?! no idea where to go.

hi everyone.

 

i thing i have a bug in the game. my red quest marker that should appear when i chose an active quest is missing. and if i chose a quest and press MAP in the quest window the map show my own location and not the quest's location.

is that a bug? it's it fixable?

 

in terms of my place in the story - im pretty early in the game. i just brought the 4 books to the lizard lady in the arcane university (is that it's name) in cyrodiil and she told me that i should study these books more. i read them myself though it doesnt look like it has anything to do with the progress in the game.

 

i have only one side quest active (called "separated in birth") and one main quest and i have no quest marker and besides knowing what town i should visit for the side quest i dont know what to do or how i will progress in the game.

 

any help?

Try deactivating all your mods and seeing if your marker comes back. If it does, that will show that you have a bad mod in your load order somewhere and you can track it down and delete it.

 

Bear in mind that not all quests have quest markers and quests with quest markers do not always have them at every single stage of a quest. There is the chance that you are at a stage where neither one of your two quests has a quest marker. You could try starting another sidequest or progressing further in your two current quests to see if a later stage has a quest marker.

ah. it was just a coincidence. all of the quests i had at the time ddidnt have a marker. once i took another quest it DID have a marker. so i continued my marker-less quests and once i got through that next quest checkpoint it gave me a marker for the next one.
