(I did a search but could not find any prior discussion this)

I recently reinstalled Oblivion recently and did a first run with the following mods:

+ Elven Cartographers mod

and I have no maps:

When I realized I had no maps I've tried installing Color Map Mod

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1950

In hopes that it would replace missing files.

No idea what to do.

Any help would be appreciated!

THANKS!!

No ingame settings should make a difference on the map showing or not. I'm thinking you installed the cartigrapher mod wrong. Try reinstalling it and make sure the files go in the right folder (ie, don't put a "data" folder from the mod inside the "oblivion\data" folder).

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Data <---- wrong

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data <--- mod files go inside here

Also, look into Wrye Bash and BOSS to auto sort your mod load order. Should probably read up on creating a bash patch as well. Google those for more info.

FYI, you should be able to take screen shots of whatever is showing on your screen by pressing the "print screen" button on your keyboard, then pasting it into windows paintshop. I'm just shooting from the hip here man, maybe someone with more info on these mods could give more detailed info for you.

If you remove your map mods and go in and delete your map textures which the mod may have overwritten, then the game will refer back to the CD and you will have the vanilla Oblivion map again. Then if you wish, you can try reinstalling a map mod again.

MadMardigan -

I tried reinstalling the Elvin Mod and updated the ArchiveInvalidation:

meshes/ \s

textures/ \s

sound/ \s

textures/menus/map/world/cyrodiil_resized.dds

textures/menus/map/world_map_arrow_icon.dds

textures/menus/hud/hud_compass_goal.dds

textures/menus/icons/map/map_icons_all.dds

textures/menus50/map/world/cyrodiil_resized.dds

textures/menus50/map/world_map_arrow_icon.dds

textures/menus50/hud/hud_compass_goal.dds

textures/menus50/icons/map/map_icons_all.dds

textures/menus80/map/world/cyrodiil_resized.dds

textures/menus80/map/world_map_arrow_icon.dds

textures/menus80/hud/hud_compass_goal.dds

textures/menus80/icons/map/map_icons_all.dd

Still no love.

:(

Ran BOSS and it set the order for OMM.

David Brasher -

I'll try that.

Does that include the weather/habitat/water mods?

Hmm, I see you have Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp checked, and you also have Unofficlal Oblivion Patch (2) .esp checked. I used a prepatched OMOD version of the UOP and I do not have that, but it kind of looks like you may have a copy of UOP running on top of UOP. If that is what is going on, you might want to try it without Unofficial Oblivion Patch (2).esp.

I don't think your weather mod changes map textures, but I could be wrong. As David Brasher said, you do need to get rid of map mods and any custom textures it might have dumped in there so the game will use the originals again.

Also, are all those mods the most recent versions? Have you tried starting the game without any mods?

Firstly, thanks all for the help so far.

Unofficial Oblivion Patch (2) .esp removed (duplicate file), still no change to map in game. :(

Launched Oblivion with no mods, still no change to map in game. :(

As for Wrye Bash, I have no idea what that is and the Google results left me confused.

(My tech knowledge is VERY limited)

delete map mods and any custom textures

Whoa, I know I'm going to end up really screwing-the-pooch.

Any idea where to start on this?

Actually...before you do that or mess with this install more, I have a question for you.

I am starting to worry that your game installation was corrupted to begin with. So here is the question. Did you launch the game at all before you put the mods in? Was the map ever normal?

If the map was never normal in this install then I highly recommend you do a clean reinstall and try it once with no mods. There is a really good tutorial for that here by bben46:

http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240

Wrye Bash may seem intimidating at first but it is an incredible tool. If you're confused, there is a really awesome tutorial done entirely in pictures here:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35230

Just go to the images tab and click each picture in order. Helped me a lot.

I just realized that we have all assumed that the installation of the game itself was alright, but nobody in this thread, myself included, actually asked you if the maps ever worked to begin with. I should have asked you that to begin with because this is a reinstall and the old install might have left all kinds of stuff behind when you uninstalled it before.

The tutorial that Telyn linked for you has instructions on backing up your saves. They aren't located in the directory that Oblivion itself is installed in.
