Need feedback on Oblivion TRAIN!!

Seriously, I would like some feedback so I can decide if it is something I really wish to get into.

I came across a mine cart and a roller coaster, it would basically use that same set up except on a larger scale and would cross all of Cyrodiil.

This is not lore friendly, but people download mods with motorcycles, firearms, lasers and other wild things. Some people hate fast travel but would be happy to use public transportation. I think if you made this mod, you would get a lot of downloads. I know I would want to download it and see what it was like, even if I didn't use it permanently.

You might be able to reuse the Dwarven train model from Mr_Siika's subway in this. I'm not surehow it'd work above-ground rather than as it does in the thin tunnels.

Thanks, this is exactly what I had in mind and will be very useful.

@ David Brasher:

Thanks for your advise. I was actually thinking about the lore a lot. I was thinking along the same lines as The suggestion up above about a dwarven mine train. maybe even magical in nature.

Maybe with a old history of bringing coal and wood into IC from the mountains. With the other cities as well. I think if it was something that could be explained away as dwaven/ magical more people might not be so offended.

There are some steam powered devices and magically powered devices already in the lore but they are just stationary. I think I even remember some gears, but I am not sure on that one right now.

Thanks again for the suggestion, I am off to see what I can do with modeling, keep the ideas and feedback coming :)

I don't think it would be TOO lore breaking. I mean - it's not like we have seen the silt striders before morrowind or again after that. It's like they were conjured up just for that game and after it was done BAM, they became exinct. And looking at all the other things already present in Oblivion (especially looking at the materials used to forge armors and weapons), steam engines should not be too far down the road.

And it's not like horses became obsolete after the first trains appeared, that took a lot longer.

I'd like to think that the Silt Striders were creatures indiginous to that region. Being difficult to transplant or use them in locations they are not native to.

But to get back on topic and about the train idea. I think it might be lore-possible to work in the Dwemer and/or Ayleid 'lost technology' into the concept.

I'm not sure how the two races would have gotten along, but hey, ideas abound.

I'm looking forward to see how this evolves.

I've seen mods here for Steampunk style games. Some of them are quite popular, like goggles. I'm sure many people would love it.. The main obstacle I can see is it might be difficult to make it work with Unique Landscapes and people would ask you for a compatible version.
