Nofsdad
I got the game up and running on Windows 10 through the use of Darkwolf's 7 & 8 fixit mod ( http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/20371/? ) but it uses a proprietary D3D9.dll file and if I attempt to use any graphics mod that uses it's own D3D9 file the game crashes on startup. I can't use SweetFX or ENB files or anything else that changes that file. Has anyone found a solution that allows the use of at least SweetFX? Things are looking pretty washed out after a couple of years of using Juicy SweetFX. Edited August 19, 2015 by Nofsdad
Purr4me
if win 10, launch Edge browser, minimize it ,bring up tasks running, click it, find it's dependents, look for that files name.go to that files location, copy it to a safe place...close browser drop that file into the game folder..test the game.to answer a possible way" Has anyone found a solution that allows the use of at least SweetFX?try that and post the results. thompsonar
I got fallout 3 running on win10 (though I'm not using an enb) by following the guide on the steam community forum for the game found here http://steamcommunity.com/app/22370/discussions/0/828937546147175081/ It didn't involve a D3D9 file. Not sure if that will help you since I haven't tried running sweetfx or an enb but just throwing it out there for anyone else that may be trying to get the game running on win10. Nofsdad
Thanks. I'll definitely take a look at that one. Once you have the game running on 10 it seems to run fairly well, although I haven't started loading back my dozens of mods yet.
thompsonar
Yeah it's been running very well for me on 10. Besides some random crashes, which are more than likely hardware related as my rig isn't the best. I get lots of random crashes in Skyrim too. I've got a light load order right now with just FWE, EVE, MMM, Travellers, and a couple others. This is my first time playing FO3 and it's been a blast thus far. Nofsdad
I reinstalled FO3, took out all the compatibility for XP stuff including "run as admin" and installed G4WL and it started right up. My frame rate doubled, and I no longer have to have that dll file to get it to run. Got my fingers crossed it keeps gong as I add my mods back. May even try SweetFX again.
