  1. I just started playing FO3 for the first time and likewise am starting to mod it. I suggest looking through the list of files of the month or top files of all time. That's what I did. I don't have a lot right now but I'm using FWE, EVE, Ironsights, Mart's Mutant Mod, and a couple weapon/armor mods. I'd like hear what people who have been modding this game for a while think, but it doesn't seem like these forums are all that active anymore. Will probably finish this play through before trying out any more. Though I am using Mod Organizer so I could make a new profile to test some others. I read a couple places that Mod organizer dosen't play well with FO3 but it seems to be working fine for me thus far.
  2. Yeah it's been running very well for me on 10. Besides some random crashes, which are more than likely hardware related as my rig isn't the best. I get lots of random crashes in Skyrim too. I've got a light load order right now with just FWE, EVE, MMM, Travellers, and a couple others. This is my first time playing FO3 and it's been a blast thus far.
  3. I got fallout 3 running on win10 (though I'm not using an enb) by following the guide on the steam community forum for the game found here http://steamcommunity.com/app/22370/discussions/0/828937546147175081/ It didn't involve a D3D9 file. Not sure if that will help you since I haven't tried running sweetfx or an enb but just throwing it out there for anyone else that may be trying to get the game running on win10.
  4. I've had no problems with Skyrim after switching to Win10. I did a complete clean install of windows and all my programs. Also switched from NMM to MO and Skyrim is running better for me than it has in a while. Took a few days of downloading and setting everything up though.
  5. http://skse.silverlock.org/ Easiest option is to pick the installer version of the current build.
  6. If you downloaded SKSE from the official site there is no virus in it. Probably a false positive because of the way skse works. Not sure which antivirus you're using. If you cut yourself off from skse and all mods that require it, you're missing out on some great mods. Not sure about your original question, never used that mod.
  7. Is this not just a matter of the categorization of skills? What i mean is do things really change all that much if all armors are included under a general "Armor" skill? You lose the progress bars for light armor, heavy armor, etc but with perks it's still basically the same thing (progression wise). You get more specialized and "better" with certain armor types as you reach higher levels and unlock more perks. I think it does seem more natural to have armor as a single perk tree, and would certainly allow for the same amount of customization if the perks are implemented the right way. But to me at least it doesn't seem like a complete reworking of the system, more a reordering that is better aesthetically and functions much the same. Of course that depends on how the perks are designed within the tree.
  8. Unp will change all female bodies (not faces, there are other mods for that) There is another mod that will apply apachii hair to npc's but otherwise it's just you. Realistic Ragdolls is applied to everything
  9. Random guesses due to lack of info (and pictures) -Verify game cache through steam to resolve any missing vanilla textures -Check active effects in magic menu, find any added by mod and redownload that mod Helpful info: pictures that work, mod list, did this randomly start happening? what did you do right before it happened?
  10. Well said. I'm certainly not the most active poster, but I do frequent the forums to stay up to date and I think you're spot on. Perhaps cooler minds will now prevail without taking too much a toll on the community. Let's all take a deep breath and reflect on what has occurred and build something better from it.
  11. I can't really help on a solution but I can say it will be helpful for those that can if you post your load order and other pertinent info as well. The more specific you can be the easier (and quicker) it is for others to help. Just thought I'd through it out there since many are caught up in the whole paid modding debate. Somewhere on the forum there's a post that says what info to produce when asking for help. Try searching "how to ask for help" Should speed up the process. I'm interested as well as I ctd every time I use the windhelm main gate or even get close to it.
  12. I don't think it's been as bad here on the nexus as elsewhere. I've read a lot in different forums and while there are some getting carried away here, it's not the majority. I'm pretty confident it will all cool down in time. I am interested to see how it all turns out. I'm in the middle of a playthrough right now so I'm not looking to change my mod setup but when that time comes (probably months from now) I wonder if things will have changed all that much. I always ignored the workshop anyway. I think (hope) the nexus community will be fine.
  13. I doubt these statement mods make it out of "review" and become actually purchasable. They're making more work for the reviews, yes. But I think that's the point. I like the idea, it's certainly one way to voice an opinion. Besides all the mods you can actually buy on there are terrible anyway (well I'm sure not "all") but I'm not paying 25-50 cents for one damn sword that I have to add with the console.
  14. I'd be all for dropping armor classes completely and offering some sort of customization for armors. Something like designing your own armor and upgrading as you progress would be awesome. For example you get your basic leather armor at the start and then maybe add an iron, steel, or whatever chestpiece and maybe chainmail sleeves. The possibilities would be about endless, pauldrons, gloves, chest, back, helmet, neck and so forth all with variations from the basic materials. Each piece could have it's pros and cons and weight and whatnot. Throw in a dye process for custom colors. Hell yeah. Not sure how it would work technically, but even a system that offers mild customization would be sufficient at first. Now if you could have the customization and locational damage that's the real deal. Arrows bouncing off when they hit plate part of your armor, maybe one slips through a gap right into your neck. That'd be cool.
  15. I can't think of any reason that turning up the volume would cause CTDs.
  16. Considering the articles talk about an "upcoming" announcement that was supposed to be back in December that never happened, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in it. I hope it's a couple years off, it'll be more polished. Plus I need that time to save up for a new rig, I'm pushing my system hard just to run Skyrim on low settings and have to choose my mods very carefully.
  17. It really does cover all that on the mod description page. EnaiSiaion should know, he wrote it. Can't get a much better source than that.
  18. Just so you know, once you've killed the dragon at the westwern watchtower then you will get random dragon spawns. Sometimes they happen in and around cities and sometimes people die. That's just the way the game goes. As others have said, there's never any point that you can't just put the main quest on hold for however long you'd like. But you've passed the trigger for dragon spawns. If you've got the mod that sets extra npc's involved in quests as essential, then you really have nothing to worry about.
  19. There's all ready a tech support forum for problems with the game. I'd suggest reading, a lot of reading. Read the modding guides here on nexus, read mod description pages, read comment sections of mods you have or want, read tech support. Just read. The answers are out there. No disrespect intended, but I get the impression you'd benifit from understanding the basics of modding. There are some good videos too if you don't like reading. You can spend a ton of time reading up on modding first or a ton of time trying to fix what you broke because of what you didn't read.
  20. I'm not the best with setstage commands. But if I were you I'd experiment with it. Try 40 like the wiki says (don't save until you know it worked). It says to wait until the guy gets to the lodge so I'd probably wait for 24 hours just be safe. If that doesn't work try 10 which from what I can see is the start of the quest. So long as you don't save after entering the commands you shouldn't screw anything up if it doesn't work.
  21. The wiki for the quest says you have to have done the quest "The Fate of the Skaal" before you can do "A New Source of Stalhrim" you may also have to cleanse the wind stone (or whichever one is by the villiage) too. I'm not sure. Check out the UESP Wiki page if that still doesn't answer your question. It has quest codes on there too. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Dragonborn:A_New_Source_of_Stalhrim
  22. Do you have the perk that lets you forge ebony? I think that's required. I know it was in my game but I've been using skyre so long I can't remember how the game was without it.
  23. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1077061-a-few-useful-tips-for-nmm-users/?hl=%2Bcategorized+%2Bmods Says in the first paragraph how to switch to uncategorized view. Also just to throw it out there I haven't had any issues downloading recently.
  24. Think the mod "More Craftables" lets you craft pretty much any vanilla armor/clothing as well. If it doesn't there is certainly a mod that will allow it to be crafted not sure which one though (I just know I can craft it, not sure which mod did it). Check through the crafting mods if you find the Warzones route too much. Check out some of the weapon and armor collections as well if you're finding the vanilla armors too bland, there are some good ones.
  25. I don't think you're going to have any luck doing this without using the console. Starting a new character isn't that bad, I've had tons of characters. You can play the character completely different, do the quests in a different order, skip the ones you're bored of, just run around stealing for the first 10-20 levels, whatever you want. I mean if you really want to "give the game a fair go" then that's what you're going to have to do. Skyrim's replayability is one of the things that makes it such a good game, take advantage of that. Or just break down and use the console, as any mod that lets you respec your character is basically just doing the same thing anyway.
