Hickory
First of all, close OBMM before you run BOSS. Then run the game from the game executable (Oblivion.exe NOT the launcher). Create a shortcut to Oblivion.exe (or OBSE Loader) to whereever you keep your shortcuts.

Hickory
If you use the launcher and click on 'Data Files' it will ruin your BOSS created load order. The order of mods is determined by their modified date, that's what BOSS does. The launcher will undo this, so always run BOSS after installing and activating mods. I would not keep all of your shortcuts on the desktop directly, because you will end up with a cluttered desktop which can increase boot times. It is far better to create a folder on a partition (I have a folder called "C:\Desktop Shortcuts\". I then create a shortcut to that folder on my desktop. This way, you have a cleaner desktop, but still have all of your shortcuts one click away. Put other folders inside it, if you wish, to further organise your shortcuts into categories -- games, music, graphics, productivity, etc. When you installed BOSS it put shortcuts in your Start menu. Use the update masterlist option. The Oblivion executable for Steam is usually in:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\oblivion\
