Remove fire heat haze (distortion) effect

I suffer ridiculous frame drops whenever I have this effect on screen (fps from ~60 to 17 by one test) and so far I've found no way to remove it. I don't think it adds much visually, being such a minor effect, and it takes its toll in a lot of areas (towns especially, with firepits all about).

I'd love it if someone with some could make a mod that disables this effect, or perhaps even replace it with a better optimized/less intensive effect (though that's a bit much to ask I imagine).

I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find a way to do it via ini edits or commands, nor are there any existing mods, nor is there any info about why this lag might be occurring, and thus far the technical support forum has yielded nothing thus far. Despite no real experience, I even tried my hand at sifting through the Creation Kit and could not locate the effect. I'm kinda at a loss, so I hope I can get some help here!

Thanks for taking the time to read my post! Hopefully someone can help me out!

If you don't have a gazillion mods installed? i might help, but if you do have a ton of them I won't.

Default fallout3 and the DLC's I will...IF you can replicate it and provide me with a saved game of the effect at the moment it takes place.

like you, I am not hunting down hidden assets.

do that? and we'll see

I do have a decent collection of mods installed, but the effect is in the vanilla game, and none of the mods should be affecting this (at least, none of them said that they changed anything about the effect, and it still looks the same as in vanilla).

This is in Skyrim, btw, not Fallout.

It does matter some if your running fix it mods, AKA patches or mods that target those effects.

I can make a patch that may fix your issue only if ran with default settings..."Skyrim alone" No DLC's

To see if I can effect changes, but I need still a point of references from you in that form.."a saved game".

If the results are favorable..? I can include any DLC's or patches currently loading....but there needs to be set a limit here.

I can By pass any mods influences, but only if I can spot the bug.

understand ?

Well, as I said, I don't believe I have any mods that are affecting this effect. I have tried reverting everything back to vanilla as near as possible (even reverting to the original horribly cramped FOV). No DLCs, just "Skyrim.esm" and "Update.esm" and an fps counter mod for an fps test.

I let the area in Whiterun load (do a couple circles to make sure it's done stuttering and all that) and I look towards the main gate, and get ~100fps. Turn a bit to the right so that the blur effect is in view and I drop to ~77fps.

EDIT: Just for the sake of testing, I turned my settings down to "Low" from "Ultra" and the effect is still there and causing fps drop (~200>~150)

Here's my save file:

I did discover in doing this that either one of the DLCs or a mod adds the effect to smelters, as it's not there in vanilla (the previous test I did was with a smelter).

I don't really understand anything about modding Skyrim, but is this not simply a matter of finding the haze effect code and replacing it with a blank effect code or something of that nature? Then every instance of the effect would be gone, problem solved.

Well I would assume 1 would cause 2, no? All I care about is the effect not tanking my fps. I don't care how it's gone, if it's not there lagging my game unnecessarily, I'm happy.
