Question about where to save files after creating new NPC

Ok so as the title suggest i just spent over a hour reinstalling my game again, because when i created my NPC i got the infamous grey face bug, so i went back and tried to fix it, but what i ended up doing was creating another new npc, so i had doubles running around, I'm not sure where to find the files of the NPC i created, as far as meshes and textures, and better yet, when making a ID name what do you guys use when you create your NPC's and or followers?

Are you talking about the head meshes and textures? If you didn't do the export in the CK (CTRL-F4 on the character while in "Actors") then you won't have any, which is why you have the grey face bug. If you do the export they will be in the facegendata folders in a folder with the same name as the esp file you made. You should probably delete that other character if they are unique and the same record...

And the id name is something you use that will be unique to that character, so make it easy to search for and find.

Thank you so much, been beating my head against the wall trying to figure this out, only other problem I'm having is trying to get Apachihair to workl, i have watched video's and read tons of online stuff, but i am failing at this miserably.

That's easy, just find the one you want to use and make a duplicate - name it something related to your NPC so you can find it. There will be a "hair" file and a matching "hairline" file that you need (some custom hair requires a second hairline file). Then go into the character file and set the hair to the one you just made as a duplicate. And don't forget to change in the "hair" file the new names of the hairlines that it needs, it will just point to the old names if you don't change it. Generate the facegen data again, save the esp update and you should have your hair.

Got figured out thanks, my problem was not picking the right one, when i was cycling through the hair, i didn't notice one was ESM and the other ESP, which is why CK wouldn't load the hair after i created my new Follower, Starting to get the hang of it now, Oh and i also forgot to use Wryebash the first couple of tries.
