psychophat
Found that most files of DA2 are backward compatible to DAO toolset as resource and can be used. Haven't checked the rest but currently loading file sets to archive via hierarchy for internal use on 1.01 toolset. Heavy resource mapping still required. Scripts would still be required to be done manually as no NSS reference available. Viable and tested within DAO toolset:- interface- textures- models- effects- areas- placeables- anims Looks good already if you'll be modding DAO using the graphics, anims, maps and effects from DA2; will post import steps and tree later. StickyNavels
Interesting! I was disappointed with the story in DA2, but the graphics (especially models and animations) are definitely improved and some of the re-designs are fairly neat. Kinda dug the new elves, was hoping there'd be a way to retrofit them into the original game.
kitsuneshoujo
I was thinking of this too. The whole UI for DA2 is 10x better... I like the combat too. The elves look a lot better. :D It would be so awesome if DAO could be retrofitted.
psychophat
Currently I'm playing around with the GFX of DAO UI and plotting DA2 over DAO. But I'm inclined to modifying DAO but not to the extent to porting DA2 to DAO because it's gearing to the console look and leaving the RPG feel. The anims can be ported back to DAO when the proper file tree grouping can be accomplished.

Kinda dug the new elves, was hoping there'd be a way to retrofit them into the original game. I think it would be very cool if someone could do it. I haven't played DA2 enough to have an opinion on the story, the UI or the combat mechanics but I would really like it if the models and animations could be updated in Origins to be on par with the ones in DA2. I initially came to the forums looking for models for Merill, Isabella and possible other characters that appear in both games for DA:O but I really dig the idea of making all the elves look like they do in DA2. I would gladly offer help to anyone who would be willing to undertake this task but I'm afraid I don't really have any experience with the DA Toolset and I don't really know where to start. If anyone plans to do it I'll be right there with you, supporting you if nothing else! :)
hsli
Does the character animations work directly? Or they have to be converted? How do I extract them from erf files?
hsli
Looks like the ani files for character animation still lack node names.... :wallbash:
