Out with the old. In with the new.

A lot of people love it, a lot of people hate it. I'm one of the people that hate it. I am a huge fan of post apocalyptic sci-fi, so naturally Fallout is a must have for me. Although one thing I strongly dislike is the 1950's pop culture feel Fallout has. Its just too much of a comic relief to a genre that should be filled only with death and destruction. There are many things that I can never change about Fallout 3 to make it suit my tastes, but that doesn't mean I wont give it my all. So I have started to work on a mod that is going to change many of the things in Fallout 3 that give it that "Blast From the Past" feel. In hopes to bring a bit more of a realistic modern feel to the game I want to change all the tech in the game to modern technology. There are a few resources already out that will help me but I am in need of help creating some custom meshes and textures for resources. I've already found mods that change the computers as well as TVs and obviously much of the armor and weapons. So anyone that makes meshes and textures that would like to help I would greatly appreciate it. ANYTHING from coffee pots to refrigerators to table top lamps, chairs, couches, other furniture, consoles, and a big one....cars and trucks. I know its a lot of custom work needed to be done so the more help the better. In the end the nexus will get a mod that completely revamps the look and feel of fallout to fit our modern world. So if anyone is interested in helping provide the resources, let me know, the help would be greatly appreciated.

That was a lot of un-paragraphed stuff to read through dude.. its called the enter key!

Seems like the kind of thing I'd be interested in helping out with but probably going to need more of an insight into your end goal. "Blast From the Past" isn't really a lot to go on.

I like the general vibe of this idea but maybe express your vision in a slightly more coherent way? Preferably with pictures to demonstrate what you're aiming for.

Good luck anyway =]

yes exactly, davidlallen has the idea. i just want to replace anything that has a 50s feel with something with a more 2000 feel. basically the end goal is i want the world of fallout to look like it would look if a nuclear apocalypse happened right now.

It's just my Opinion, but I think turning everything in fallout into something modern would just ruin the game. And a post-apoc fiction doesn't have to be 100% gloomy, what about The Road Warrior? And I think Fallout 3 and New Vegas are post-post apocalyptic, because it's been 100 years, not 10. Civilization has started rebuilding pretty well at this point, so I don't think it's need to be so, gloomy.

But, that's my opinion.

Actually it's been 200 years. So yeah, pretty much in the "rebuild" phase, not the "survive" phase.

either way...whether its 200 years or 2000000 years, the mod is intended to change the way pre-war items looked. i dont want to change the feel of the wasteland as it is now...but the way the world was before the wasteland claimed it. and mad max is a key example, one that i used in my original post in fact. i love the mad max world. it has a very wasteland feel yet all the items in the world are from the 80s...not the 50s like in fallout. im not attempting to change the world to appear not so 'renegade'...i just want the player to feel as tho the wasteland has claimed a world very much resembling their own...as apposed to a world so fictional and far from what our world would look if it were to plummet into chaos. i want the broken up tv to look like a broken flatscreen instead of a broken projector screen..i want the beat up abandon cars to look like a beat up abandon volkswagen jetta or a honda civic..not a nuclear powered 57 chevy chivelle. and vault technology should not look like the peak of 1940s technology, but instead look like the peak of 2012 technology.

and i completely understand anyone who is a fan of the fallout world as is and would not support this mod. as i said before some people love it and some hate it. for those who love it...this mod is clearly not for you.

for all others who do not like the idea of this mod...this forum is not intended for the opinions of those who do not appreciate this mod. it is intended to collect the help of those who wish to assist in making this mod. thank you anyway.
