gusano
A new companion. One word: Boxxy. Don't pretend like you aren't visualizing gameplay with her right now. Trawlin' the wasteland for Trolls. Imagine how fitting all her various (yet limited?) comments would be in each situation. - "My name is Boxxy.".....when you first meet, hire, re-hire, or she idle chats with other NPCs.- "I saw what you did there.".....when you steal, change clothes, open inner cell doors, etc.- "I love you."......when she loves you. always. lol.- "I'm not trollin', you're the one trollin'.".....when you change her tactics, follow distance, or inventory.- "You be trollin'!".....when you do something she disapproves of.- "Trolls!".....when spotting the enemy.- and many more. (mostly troll related classics) -edit-Ummmm...nah.Just horsing around with a take on Boxxy. No further explanations should really be needed. Sorry for interrupting. Have fun. ...sigh... simplywayne90
I have no idea what that post is saying to be honest...The dialogue seems limited and you didn't add a backstory which is the main point of this thread, if you can, later on edit it in or revise your post to fit the suggested guideline so that I can get what its about. Anyways back on topic. By the way, I'm glad to see people enjoying this topic, I feel like we have a good company of companion ideas here. Here is the unique Brain-bot that I thought would make an new unique addition to companion ideas (I listed it earlier). He'd have to have a quirky personality I thought, perhaps he could talk using various voice-clips from movies, kinda like the Ed-E the random sounds idea, but instead have actual conversions instead of simply funny battlecries. The brain-bot one is the one between to the "Blue Liberty Prime" and the Alien commando.http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/images/39419-1-1296242659.jpg These are from C.I.Bs Vegas edition of his creature modders resource mod. Here is the link to the mod...Creature Resources and Mods by CIB
simplywayne90
how about Yes Man he would be a awesome companion I believe there are already mods for that (BuildableBots), however this does bring up an idea I didn't think of. If some of you readers would like I feel we could bring up in-game NPCs as ideas for companions, however....follow the guidelines, that means a good backstory and a good reason why they join besides "Oh you helped me with a tiny problem, so now I'll risk my life to travel with you even though your practically a total stranger and just some random courier...." However, personally I perfer completely new companion ideas, since likely any NPCs in-game have likely already been converted to comapnions (Sunny, Yes Man, Benny, Vulpes, etc. are already companions or can be made into them, so please don't mention them since we've all heard it 10 million times before)
someguynamedjoe
There WAS an absolutely perfect companion mod from Fallout 3. I just wish someone would port it to FONV. Jessi Companion
simplywayne90
Thanks SW90 for making such an awesome thread and setting it up for actual discussions. ----------------------------Cheryl Heather Mason---------------------------- BEFORE YOU READ THIS: This is just my take on Heather as a companion in New Vegas. This is no joke and I think it would be really great for her as a companion... also there are some spoilers for silent hill 3. Current Age: 25Gender: FemaleStatus: AliveHair color: BrownEye color: Hazelhttp://images.wikia.com/silent/images/3/3d/CherylProfile.pnghttp://alchemillahospital.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/mug1.jpg [WARNING SOME SILENT HILL 3 SPOILERS]Background: Heather's real name is Cheryl Mason, the adopted daughter of the writer Harry Mason, who survived the events of the first Silent Hill game. When Harry escaped Silent Hill, Alessa/the Incubator came back as an apparition and presented him with a newborn baby, which is both Cheryl, and Alessa herself, restored to one body again. Harry left Silent Hill with the baby and moved to Portland, however, they were attacked by a cult member there and Harry killed him in self-defense. In an attempt to throw the cult off - should they come and look for both him and the child - he renamed her Heather, dyed her hair blonde and relocated to another city. Harry eventually settled in the Daisy Villa Apartments with Heather. It is notable that Heather did not associate or acquaint herself with her neighbors (according to Douglas Cartland's notebook.) On one of Heather's birthdays, Harry gave her a pendant with a red jewel inside and told her to take good care of it and to never take it off; the reason being that the red jewel is crystallized Aglaophotis which can expel demons and if the Order had ever attempted to impregnate Heather again, she could survive by swallowing the aglaophotis and expelling the new god. Then one day, while running an errand for her adoptive father at the Central Square Shopping Center, Heather accidentally falls asleep and dreams about Silent Hill. She finds herself wandering through the nightmare version of Lakeside Amusement Park. While she is walking along tracks she is run over by a roller coaster. When she awakens from the nightmare, she exits the burger joint and calls her father, letting him know that she is on her way home. Heather eventually finds a way out of the Hilltop Center and upon entering her apartment, she discovers her father brutally murdered, his lifeless body slumped in a chair. And after a lot of crazy s***, she finally leaves silent hill... RESOURCES: http://silenthill.wikia.com/wiki/Heather_Mason In New Vegas... How you meet her and how she meets you: well I should add this to my Silent Hill mod but I'm not going to, but I will say how I think you should meet her... after leaving silent hill (from Silent Hill Shattered Memories) there is a large amount of fog clouds up around her window and she wakes up again in Silent Hill (my silent hill mod), where the courier meets her. When the courier is about to leave the town on a stolen enclave vertibird he then sees a girl in a crashed truck starting to get up. The courier confronts her and with some dialog options can convince her to come with the courier. If the courier wants to find out what happened, and why she is somehow in the future, not dead, and ect, can go on a quest that involves going back into Silent Hill. Combat style: She would be great with handguns, sword like weapons, and sniper rifles. Factions Preferance: Since she has never been to vegas, or New Vegas in that matter she would have to judge by the way things would seem in the shell of things. She would consider pretty much everyone bad except for those who try to kill her. Probably be more of an NCR kind of girl, but then again she might just be better off settling down with the doc up at goodsprings.. after all he did save the couriers life. Just some quotes (to make her seem more badass): * "Are you still following me? Do I have to scream?" * "I don't really feel like eating and drinking stuff from an alternate reality, OK?" * "You think you're Superman or something?" * "Calm down?! How am I supposed to do that?! My father is dead! He's murdered!" * "Shut your stinking mouth, *censored*!" * "Looks like God didn't make it!" * "Is every person here a mental case?" * "You can't be dead, I was going to kill you!" * "This is God...?" simplywayne90
I'd like to present a Companion idea which is already WIP. I started modding this idea end of last year, it's currently in alpha state (i created and released several other mods in the meantime, but i'm still working on this one). The mod is based on the 1997 FPS game Blood, and the companion i'm talking about is Caleb, the main protagonist of this game (and it's addons and follow-ups). Most paragraphs in the description below are canon with the Blood games and addons (i took these paragraphs from blood.wiki-site.com), but i changed the story here and there to make it fit into the Fallout world. NameCaleb (last name unknown) AppearanceSome people who encountered Caleb describe him as a baldhead, while others state he has long hair. One thing is certain, he is strong and agile, as if possessing an inhuman power. He was often seen wearing classic Wild West clothing - a leather trench coat, boots, brown pants, white shirt and cowboy hat. He was wielding all kinds of weapons, including Explosives and Energy Weapons, but his favorite gun would be the Double-Barreled Sawed-Off Shotgun. He is very well known for his aggressive nature, sadistic tendencies, his gravelly voice, violent sarcastic humour and a tendency to spout out witty one-liners. Here are some images of Caleb which have been created throughout the years (fan art which i like)]http://www.lowbird.com/data/images/2010/12/8f156fca77808541d18f66073afdbd61.jpg In my WIP mod, he currently looks like this (this will most likely change, but since my GECK keeps crashing when editing faces, i'm stuck here atm)http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/3594/caleb3.jpg Backstory Early Years and the CabalCaleb is born in western Texas in 1847. By age seventeen, Caleb is well known as a merciless gun fighter with a hunger for bloodshed. Seven years later he comes across a burned-out homestead with a single occupant: Ophelia Price. She becomes Caleb's doorway to a dark cult called the Cabal, who worship the dark god Tchernobog. Caleb rises through the ranks to become one of the Chosen - the elite servants of Tchernobog. The Chosen (Caleb, Ophelia, Ishmael and Gabriel) serve the dark god well, preparing for the day he would throw open the doors of the dimensions and take over the Earth. Betrayal and RevengeSometime between 1871 and 1928, Tchernobog summons the four Chosen to the Hall of the Epiphany, Tchernobog's chamber. After killing and kidnapping the other Chosen, Tchernobog casts Caleb into a bottomless pit, telling him to "consider his power, in a hollow grave". In 1928, Caleb awakens in an open grave in a mausoleum. He fights his way through a quest to retrieve the other Chosen, eventually finding a large temple, which leads to the organic entry way to the Hall of the Epiphany. There, Tchernobog reveals to Caleb that he killed the other Chosen so Caleb would return, seeking vengeance, with the strength of each life he had taken. With this power, Tchernobog will throw open the doors and inherit the Earth. However, Caleb defeats him in battle. He unknowingly inherits Tchernobogs power, but he ignores it. Having heard of an ancient scroll guarded by the Cabal that is rightfully his, Caleb sets out in search of it. After heading to the Carpathian Mountains, Caleb finds where the scroll is held. After defeating the Lord of All Nightmares, Caleb takes the scroll for his own use. Caleb also learns that the Cabal are training a new rank of Chosen. Caleb is killing every last Cabal member on the way to the training ground where he finds several Chosen-in-training, who he destroys along with their stone beast that forms. 1928 to 2028After these events, little is known of Caleb's doings. He seems to be spending his time hanging out in dive bars, swilling cheap beer, smoking bad cigars, and starting brawls over women of dubious moral character. However, it is rumored that he is striving for leadership of the Cabal and to resurrect his beloved Ophelia, and the other Chosen. CabalCoBy the year 2028 the Cabal had reorganized themselves as CabalCo, a mega corporation that has their hands into everything from adult entertainment over home construction & real estate to weapon development. The Cabal regained their quest of world domination. Gideon, the Cabal leader, feels unsatisfied as long as Caleb, the Great Betrayer, still walks the Earth. Gideon attempts to destroy him with a powerful weapon, the Singularity Generator. The weapon fails, and instead causes the fabric of reality to unbind, already weakened due to the fact that Tchernobog, the maintainer of realities, is dead.At CabalCo Headquarters, Caleb confronts Gideon at CabalCo Headquarters, where a battle ensues. Gideon escapes through a portal to another reality and Caleb follows him through. Gideon fights Caleb in a final battle to the death. Caleb ends up the victor and eventually finds the lair of The Ancient One, the invader of our reality, who he defeats in combat. Finally acknowledging the power of Tchernobog in himself, Caleb has no other choice but to use his power to seal the rifts or all of reality will perish. After the Great WarIn the year 2077, after the bombs dropped, most witnesses of the events involving Caleb and CabalCo die, or are gone missing. The many CabalCo facalities all around the world are either locked up tight or burned to the ground. Nothing indicates the existance of the Cabal anymore. It is unknown what happened to Caleb after he sealed the rifts. [*]How do you meet them?, how do they fight?, and what factions they'd like, random ideas like Quests for them, Dialog, Banter, Companion Perk ideas, etc.In the year 2281, the Courier stops by a bar near Bonnie Springs, the Redrock Saloon, and learns that members of the Cabal have been sighted all around the Mojave. The Courier doesn't know what this is all about yet, but eventually a Ghoul appears, who has witnessed the events involving the Cabal before the Great War first hand. He tells the Courier about the Rise of The Cabal, and that there is only one way to stop the cult: The Courier must find Caleb! So much about the storyline so far. Here's some more "technical" info about Caleb as a companion:He is a master in wielding all kinds of weapons (Guns, Melee and Explosives are his tagged skills, but he's also good with Energy Weapons). He refuses to wear any other armor than his own Outfit. But since he's kind of undead, he will live again after being shot down (he is set to essential)Although he doesn't like taking orders, he will follow the players tactical instructions (Companion Wheel fully functionable, he will act exactly like a vanilla companion (hopefully))Characters and creatures he kills will often explode into a red, gut-ridden, eyeball-strewn paste. Fun! (he will have the Bloody Mess perk, although i might change my mind about that)I also thought about making him add a perk to the player called Bloody Revenge, which will make enemies bleed to death when the player hits them. Just an idea.I'd describe his character as somewhere between "Chaotic Neutral" and "Neutral Evil" (in D&D terms), he doesn't care which faction he is fighting for or against, as long as the Cabal are either destroyed or under his control. He will fight anyone who stands in the way. Which means he might turn against the Courier if he has to.... Thanks to this thread, i made up my mind about several aspects of my mod, especially about the background story and upcoming story events. That's great, cause i haven't thought much about that during the previous development (which primarily involved scripting and creating enemies and locations). Thanks Simplywayne90, +1 kudos from me. simplywayne90
Just get me Fawkes from FO3, nothing more! Alright, I will try that...but I'll stick to the form that people are using since the OP is right about it. Companion: Fawkes Companion Perk: Master of Arms: Fawkes can teach a thing or two about weapons handling, you are no longer subject to weapons requirement to aim properly, however the training is strenous and you now need 2 strength points to carry all weapons properly. Profile: Since the Lone Wanderer's exploits in the wasteland, Fawkes and some super mutants decided to head west when they have heard of a super mutant haven called Utobitha. Hoping for a place where they can belong, they arrived just in time for Tabitha to take over the place and assume control as the leader of the place. Fawkes and his band of Super Mutants were soon drafted into Tabitha's conquest and was sent out as an "invasion force" against those who oppose the Utobitha. While Fawkes was sensible enough to desert them (Plus he had a bigger gun than the most of them). Most of his comrades joined Tabitha's cause and was carrying stealthboys and started harassing NCR and Powder Gangers. with the advent of a war on the horizon, the Courier finds himself between two different sides of super mutants. Unlike most companions, he would gladly join right off the bat provided you are high karma Weapons: He carries a Super Sledge and a Laser Gatling Gun Loyalty Quest: A disease for a Remedy. Help Fawkes settle the issue of the Jacobstown/Utobitha War. After completing the quest "Crazy, Crazy, Crazy", "Come Fly With Me" or "Guess who I saw today", Fawke would tell you about his past in the Capital Wasteland as a Super Mutant and how despite being shot at by men in powered armor, they never had to worry about going mad. He shows a good deal of concern over the well being of fellow Super Mutants and nightkin who were the hardest hit by the insanity. He decided to talk of "liberating" Utobitha from Tabitha's tyranny, even if you did kill her the issue of Nightkin loyal to Tabitha remains a concern. He talks about an invasion plan that will sucker several mercanaries groups to weakening the resistance in Utobitha so his fellow supermutants can close up for the killing blow. The first task is to find mercenaries, Powder Gangers Mercs are willing to join if you provide them several C4 or with a science check, several sticks of dynamite and 5 stealth boys to set up an ambush against them. NCR mercnaries are willing to sign for the cause if you have done several good deeds for them (Complete 5 NCR Quests) as well as a signing bonus of 1000 caps. Several Legionaires who are hungry for honor will join you if you can persuade them that fighting the abominations will make them famous. However they still need a strong leader so they pit you against one of their finest gladiators. Defeat him and they will take leave from Caesar to hunt the Abominations. Likewise, the Khans will join you if you prove your loyalty and pass a speech check to let some of their young ones go in and try to fight (Papa Khan wants to put the kids through their own trial by fire.) Once you are ready to attack, you give Fakwes the Signal and the mercs will fight their way up the mountain. Take out any Nightkin resitance as you scale the mountain once again and your forces will reach the top. There you will find Leo, who have been indoctrinated by Tabitha and was willing to kill the Courier and his old friend for Tabitha's sake. You can broker a ceasefire or using terrifying presence and threaten to make him disappear permanently or just outright kill him. regardless of the outcome, the merc are getting antsy on each other and prepare to fight. Talk them all down or kill them all with Fawke and complete the quest. The reward for the quest is a perk for him which is either "Mutant resiliance" which improves the damage threshold significantly against all abominations or "Mutant Ambassador" which gives you a discount of +10 barter when Fawkes is in your party. Unlike Ghost Town Gunfight/Run Goodsprings run, the requirements of this loyalty quest is much greater.
