G'day

Greetings.

I am new here, obviously, I am Australian, I like playing games mostly RPG and FPS style.

my other hobbies are driving and weaponsmithing.

I got into modding with TES 3 Morrowind, where I went rather overboard and spent more time "refining" the mods I had running than actually playing the game.

So with Oblivion I am trying to tone it back, plus I don't have 3DS max anymore so that helps.

I have been hanging around the forum for a while now, picking up a few different mods, the ones I like most being OOO, Adonnay's Elven and Classical weapons, and Sentinals Legendary Weapons and Armours, I'm trialing a few other minor mods with them.

One question I do have though, does anyone know of a good mod for two handed swords?

To be speciffic, I mean of the claymore/zweihander variety, not something ludicrous or of a fantasy variety, atm I have settled for one of Adonnay's Classical bastard type swords, but I really want something bigger, more like a traditional claymore or zweihander or whatever you prefer to call them.

I have used the search function to try and find what I am looking for, but didn't turn up what i was looking for.

Short of individually looking through every single mod and it's pictures.

Which I don't really want to do.

So, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good to have another Australian Simon.

We shall wait, lurk, gather, grow, and when the time is right, when our numbers are great enough, we shall march forth and conquer this whole Nexusboard, from there, non can stop us. Soon, very soon we will have enough random Australians, soon our conquest shall begin... WAITING FOR MORE 3 PLAYERS LOBBY 9/12

For a two handed sword mod, go into the Oblivion forum > mod requests, Im sure there are some out there and there's a Mod Detective thread to find them, if you can find what you want you could also probably find someone to make one for you. I do recomend a few mods for you: Stoat's Disembowlment Simulator, it's a fun little modular animation additon, great fun to muck around with/cause mayhem, easy to install, well layed out and documented, and on of the best animation comps availuble here. Armamentarium is also good if you can actualy run it, but it's kind of system-brutal, vast weapon collection though.

Realswords is a great mod too, I dont know if you've looked at that, and the Mount And Blade swords likewise, some very nice blades and axes there. FRAN/OOO/MMMM is also well worth forcing to run. It's a crochety beast, temperamental and hard to get started, but by my crazy aunt it's good! There is no bigger mod here, and combining all 3 megamods makes for a truly impressive game addition.

Tips:

Learn to master the use of the ~. The ~ is a powerful tool, use it wisely and you can literaly rebuild your character in minutes after deleting it to create a new CleanSave. All glory to the ~ menu.

If you have a female character or are a just a bit sassy like me, make sure you pick your body mod and face mod at the same time, and keep that in mind while choosing armours. Nobody respects an ugly wargod, just ask Fulgrim.

Match your face and body texture mods properly or the results will be disastrous, nobody likes to see that your neck and head are a totaly diferent texture resolution!

Grab a flying mod, they're a godsend, allowing you to arrive much quicker than fast-travel.

Grabbing a mod that slows down the day/night cycle is very useful, it makes it much easier to catch a vendor or avoid getting spit-roasted(strigoi/vampires/wraiths/moonwalkers/werevargs)

Before you start, grab ChargenByNumbers, Varla Stone Of Infinite Recharge and Dagger's Chargen Amulet, these three utility mods will remove three things that will otherwise bust your chops, losing a good face to a misclick, having to suffur the horrific stat-costs of using ShowRaceMenu, and allow you to emergency "jump-start" empty magical artifiacts, or simply godmode fill your magestaffs.

Avoid lakes/rivers/the sea if you run with OOO, in more recent versions... Just stay out of any major watercourse for your own safety unless your level OVER-9000 and or in TGM.

Thanks for the welcome Vindekarr.

There is nothing I like more than a hostile takeover in the morning, except maybe a hostile and brutally murderous takeover. Though just to be sure, where do you stand on prisoners?

Tbh I wasn't sure where to ask, I figured mod requests was for requesting someone to build a mod, which if it came to that I'd rather try myself, that way I know it's done the way I want, I already downloaded and installed the Blender Nif package, though I have not tried to use it as yet.

I just downloaded Stoat's DS, Mount and Blade (all the weapons ones anyways) and Armamentarium, I figure the only way to tell is to try it. I keep meaning to go to the Realswords page and see if I can find one comprehensive Realswords mod, but I keep forgetting, one day I'll get around to it. When I first looked at FCOM it looked rather mod intensive, ie high maintenance, so I dismissed it, once I have gotten used to OOO then I'll give it a revisit.

Though, as yet I have not really encountered anything in the water all that deadly, just fish and crabs, have to have a look and make sure I installed it correctly....

Do you have any recommendations on a flying mod, one that sticks out from the crowd?

The tried and true is Ring Of Wings V3 with Alexander's Wings, and that's an OBSE based travel mod more than anything else.

Akatosh Mount by SaidenStorm is another great mod, hard to find, but the ability to summon an uber powerful, beautifuly made flying dragon is one I doubt anyone could pass up.

Thirdly there's another one, fully animated, that's a new addition, but I cant remember the name, you'd probably want to backtrack through recent files, but it's a really nice one, like I said, fully animated which is nice for a change.

Lastly MidasMagic features a Wings Of The Archangel spell, but that's a bummer to get a hold of.

Would that be VipCxj-Air-Fight-System?

Also, thank you for your help, it is greatly appreciated
