Adding new abilities to Geralt

Greetings.

 

Every time I add a new string to geralt .xmb files I get a new game with -1 in all entries: hp, weight etc, and cant cast signs. Changing already existing values works fine. All i want is adding Geralt "CiriBlink" and "CiriCharge" abilities which i copied from ...\gameplay\abilities\opp_base_abl.xml to ..\gameplay\abilities\geralt_skills.xmb. Help, please, any ideas how should it work?

Based on your issues, the devs likely coded these abilities entirely seperate from standard "spells" hamstringing them to the character stats and type. Ciri is literally a whole other character class. Like trying to add spells to a melee character that has none of the fundamental code to make it work. You're not going to be able to make this work without turning Geralt into a hybrid of both Geralt and Ciri, combining all of their tied code together, which likely will require some massive wizardry since they don't function the same on even a fundamental level.

 

That would be my guess. It's an amusing idea but likely not worth pursuing for the amount of work involved in untieing the code for this incredibly complicated merge.

 

I think your best bet would be to replace one of Geralt's signs with a toggle that gives you Ciri's abilities and instead of adding the abilities that exist, rip the ability code out and replace its dependancies at the roots.
