MasamuneZenith Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Hey guys. I have some limited experience with Blender and have had some success earlier in modding some weapon models and changing bits and pieces to suit my style. I was using an older version of Blender at the time, but found a newer one. I've been enjoying using it and the streamlined tools. But now I've run into this problem trying to export my edited mesh. Not looking ahead I got rid of the old one and don't even remember the version I had, so now I'm asking if you guys could help me out. Here's the error.https://www.dropbox.com/s/vkrkf1bygky0tzw/Screenshot%202015-08-31%2017.55.24.png?dl=0Any suggestions?
clanky4 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 As far as I know you HAVE to export your work in blender 2.49. While you can do the actual work on the mesh in another version of blender it needs to be exported from 2.49. This page contains instructions on exactly what you need to set up blender 2.49 to import/export nif files. The order of installation is important.http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/Blender
MasamuneZenith Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 Ah, thank you. That's exactly the page I needed. Though, I also need reminding exactly how I can import the NetImmerse/Gamebryo .nif files as the option is not present. Or should it already be able to do that and I'm just overlooking something?
madmongo Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Somewhere on the nexus (might be under the FO3 section instead of NV, I don't remember, it's been a very long time since I've installed it) there's a package that contains Blender 2.49 plus all of the nif tools, all in versions that play nice together and work. It comes with installation instructions. Off the top of my head, if you don't have the nif tools properly installed or python isn't installed properly or for some reason isn't recognized, the nif import and export options won't work.
MasamuneZenith Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 Okay, I tried doing a fresh reinstallation of all the programs needed, and along the way I get this popup here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/13wusoytgt404xe/Screenshot%202015-09-06%2010.28.15.png?dl=0So what can I do to correct this?
clanky4 Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I've had the issue before as well. As the textbox implies you'll need reinstall blender. When installing blender it'll say: Please specify where you wish to install Blender's user data files. Select the second option. http://i.imgur.com/EMF0LP8.png
MasamuneZenith Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 Thanks! Got everything settled and I'm blending up mods again. c:
