New to Oblivion on the PC

Hey guys, after years of playing Oblivion in the 360 I have finally decided to buy the PC edition. I have built myself a computer capable of running the game after being enticed with all the awesome mods.

To get to the point let's just say I have no idea where to start! Could anyone give me some details on some things?

-How to install on windows 7

-Where to create the game folders and what to name them

-How to install mods

-What programs I need to install mods

-How to use mods

Sorry if I sound vague and if I'm asking simple questions but I am completely new to a game like this. The only other PC games I've played were Roller Coaster Tycoon and Diablo II, both of which were 1000x more basic than Oblivion.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

its quite simple

make certain you never install ANYTHING

to Program Files or Program Files (x86)

so install

someplace -- anyplace -- else

after that Google has some easy videos to answer your remaining questions

As to the "never install in Program Files (x86)", I've never understood that. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit with Oblivion in the default directory, and it's never -not- worked in the entire time since Win7 came out. I have all the DLCs and about 120 mods, and they all work perfectly fine. But if that many people say not to, you might as well be safe and follow their advice.

Anyway, to install mods, I'd recommend getting Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) as your first download- you'll be using it a lot from now on. The OBMM readme (and usually the readme of any mod you download) will give you instructions on how to use each individual mod, as it can vary from mod to mod. Generally, however, you just drop the mod files in your data folder (default path- C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data).
