Nystel
For me, it can literally take 2 days. In fact, I just starting using MO for New Vegas, and it has been giving me hellish problems. I am starting to figure it out. I am currently starting the game up to see if it crashes on ever single mod I install...... 60+ mods. How long does it take you? ninjarat314
From a fresh install to adding the mods I find essential, it takes me anywhere between 2-6 hrs. For me hardest part about it is waiting for some of my higher end Texture/Graphic mods to install (referring to Fallout: New Vegas). I would probably be doing something redundant by saying this, but I highly recommend going by Gopher's tutorials on modding, even if you're not installing the same things to see how he goes about it, it's saved me plenty of hours and fixed all but one of the issues I've been having (which I've found out is due to my Windows 10 setup, so technically it's fixed all of them). I will say this though, if you plan on modding Fallout: New Vegas (or really any Bethesda game with a load-order for that matter I recommend LOOT Mod Organizer. It has literally saved me from crashing (I haven't crashed in several months ever since I installed it and have it check my load order for mismatched items and conflicting files. Hope this helps. Edited September 5, 2015 by ninjarat314
Nystel
Yea, I agree MO is the way to go. However, a lot of the New Vegas mods (since it is an older game with older mods) require a little repackaging to make it work with MO. Speaking of that, any know how to install A.D.A.M. with MO? This is an odd one.
MotoSxorpio
For A.D.A.M., you might install manually while reading the "VERY IMPORTANT README" that is in each archive. "Data", "Plugins", "Project Nevada" files each has its own README with installation details. Each folder in the archives is basically separation of items for assets (meshes and textures) or varied compatibility plugins for DLCs and Project Nevada. Each archive folder could be extracted to a new folder if you want the entire enchilada, as long as you extract the "Data" folder (and contents) from each option to the new folder and keep the proper pathing, you could repackage for easier use with MO or other Mod manager, simply naming the top folder something like ADAM-FULL so you know what it is and zipping/rar-ing it to toss into MO like any other mod. SirTwist
I would also recommend on top of Ninjarat's Gopher videos, the ones made by Dirty Weasel Media, I think his forum name is CalTex, not sure, and I can't remember. And as others have said, read the description, and the readme files. I use Mod Organizer myself, and I will say it takes me a few days of installing mods, making sure I haven't totally broken the game, etc. before I really start to play. Probably, for me, I can average a good 4 hours, minimum, a day, to 10 or 12 hours, with breaks, a day to watch videos and mod the game. (Usually it's watching videos and downloading the mods that take the time.) I take my time, and look at mods, and things like that. I also clean some mods that need cleaning. And that process is another hour, maybe. So, I'm looking at going from vanilla game to just essentials probably about 4 hours. (Mostly downloading and watching videos as I stated before.) Then another few hours browsing the forums here, and the nexus mods themselves. Then downloading the mods. Right there is probably 10, 12 hours. (Oh, and installing the mods I want to run that Gopher and Dirty Weasel Media recommend running.) Then some more time looking for other mods, and so on. So, roughly, without videos, probably about 10, 12 hours, for just download and install. Longer for if I have to read something, or watch a video, or something like that. llamaRCA
For me, it can literally take 2 days. Same. Sometimes longer. It depends on what I want to install to build a particular playthrough. I use FOMM and arrange the load order myself. I've been modding in the Fallouts for years and don't need help with the initial load order sorting, but once in game there can be issues with new, untested mods that I need to untick due to crashing, don't like them, etc.
SKYZOO
I manually install everything on purpose, so I can know what files came from what mod to avoid deleting wrong entries and causing conflicts. It will take me 1-2 days, as far as knowing what the coming playthrough is meant to be (Stealth, melee, sniper and etc etc.), because I will make my own mods to use during the specific playthroughs. I set-up my game for longer than I actually play it in the first 5 times of my new playthrough combined, but knowing your own preferred load order is PRICELESS. I love being able to start my playthrough without crashes and conflicts, which is what accounts for the second half of the second day's time. Giving it the right prep is worth the wait in playing, IMO.
FireBug3
Ohne or two Days, mostly filtering thousands of mods down to about 50. The installation itself isn't that bad if you know what you are doing. Also, I am using my own manager, that allows me to semi manually install and uninstall mods, because I don't like big mangers, specially when you have to install them, very unnecessary and way too intrusive. SirTwist
I'm not really a coder, so that is something I need to, eventually, fix. However, one of the things I like about Mod Organizer is that it keeps all the mods I install in it's own directory. (folder for those who don't know. Sometimes I prefer using directory, sometimes folder. This is one of those days where I feel like using directory. I digress, hence the parentheses.) This way, not only can I uncheck a mod that is not work, I can also remove it at a later time. Or add it back in. I am, now, going to see about merging mods together, so I can actually lower my mod count down even further, and that is taking some time. I don't want to rush out and make a merged mod, and have the game screw up on me. So, right now, I'm just adding mods, and about to update a couple other things while I think about it. LostDinosaur
I'm constantly setting up friends games and stuff and it'll take me a day or so. Mostly just on waiting for texture packs to download, or navigating the weird settings they put on their computer. My own game though would roughly be like a day because I tend to be doing other things while setting it up.
