Would upgrading CPU increase script performance?

Hi, a month or two ago my PC took a tumble and as a result my hard drive is now ticking like a clock. Needless to say it's dead, and I am taking the opportunity to rebuild my computer , with the main change being the jump from AMD to Intel CPU. More specifically, I will get rid of my AMD Phenom II x4 965 and get an Intel i7-5820k. As I'm sure your aware, this will be a hefty increase in CPU power. My last skyrim build was script heavy (primarily in added npc's) and was also extremely graphics heavy, to the point that I believe my Titan X was heavily bottle necked, despite playing at 4K res with SMC and ENB. Thus, my question is would upgrading my CPU result in an increase in script performance in skyrim? I did some research and got mixed answers and was unable to find anywhere that specifically stated that scripts were CPU dependant, so I put the question to you fine people. I would imagine I would, but knowing skyrim / papyrus I suppose the engine could become a limiting factor long before the cpu would. Any ideas?

For old games like Skyrim a i7 4790k will give you better performance than a i7-5820k. But the i7-5820k is better for most modern games. With either one you will have no script issues.

 

With my old i7 2600k I have no script issues & I run a lot of script heavy mods & have battles with 30+ npcs involved.

 

I usually run Skyrim at 1440 at 60fps.

Yeah, it's not just skyrim I am building the computer for, I'm also eagerly anticipating total war: Warhammer, which I'm quite sure will be CPU intensive, plus a variety of other games (100+ steam library) so the 5820k is the go to CPU for me, if it was just for skyrim I would get an i5.

 

I think "no script issues" might be a tad optimistic, I used virtually ever npc adding mod and a dozen or so mods that added scripts to them, I think I had 20mb papyrus logs within 2-3 minutes, you could hardly move inside the bannered mare for the amount of npc's. With what might be an average script heavy build I would expect a 5820k to hold its own, but how much better would it do then the phenom II 965? Would it be a minor difference, For example both getting the same performance but with the 5820k on less utilisation, or would it be a case of the 5820k could handle ~2x more NPC's doing a fair bit more then the phenom could? From what I've gathered the papyrus system usually becomes the limiting factor before the CPU does, but I could very well be wrong.

A phenom II 965 is a weak cpu.

For example it has a Passmark score is 4262 compared to the 5820ks 12984.

 

My old i7 2600k has a score of 8545.
