Klide
So after finishing the Stormcloak story-line, I realized that I didn't like the way it ended and wanted to try bringing the Imperials back. Unfortunately, to my knowledge there is no way of doing this, and I would prefer to not have to go all the way back to before joining the Stormcloaks, as I have done a great deal of side quests in between Stormcloak quests. My thoughts were then that perhaps there could be a mod to solve this. It would start with you either finishing either the Stormcloak rebellion, or the Imperial take-over (After you kill either Ulfric Stormcloak or General Tulius). After completing either kill you can loot the leader and there will be a note about a meeting that was supposed to take place with an important ally who was waiting at The Bannered Mare. You then go visit him/her and can either kill him/her for being with the enemy, or hear him/her out and start a new quest line of betraying the side you had chosen and rebuilding the other side. The Quest for rebuilding the Stormcloaks would start with retaking Windhelm with a small band of left over Stormcloak soldiers. After that, you would take a few smaller imperial caravans or forts, and then a Second Battle for Whiterun. After this, you would siege a few small imperial holdings again. Finally, you would end with taking Solitude from the Imperials you had brought to power. The ally you had met in The Bannered mare becomes leader of Stormcloaks, and you are his general. The Quest for rebuilding the Imperials would start with retaking Solitude with a small band of left over Imperial soldiers. After that, you would take on smaller stormcloak caravans and forts. Afterwards, would be the Second Battle for Whiterun. Again, you would lay siege to small Stormcloak holdings after the battle, until finally you would overthrow Windhelm. The ally you had met in The Bannered Mare then becomes leader of the Imperials, and you are her general. In either of these retaking quest-lines, there would be small skirmishes between Imperials and Stormcloaks after the First keep was taken back (Solitude for Imperial quest, and Windhelm for Stormcloak quest). You would be approached by a commanding soldier from either army you choose to rebuild, and told that the soldiers have engaged in a battle at -insert random location here- and you have a misc. quest added to your quest log. You have 24 hour to reach the battle or you fail the quest, though there is no penalty for failure, this is simply to give you more opportunities to participate in larger fights. megageeklizzy
Civil War overhaul allows you to switch sides in the middle of the Civil War, I believe. I only ever side with the Imperials, and never switch sides, so I don't have any personal experience with the mechanic. If you want to try it out, it can be found here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37216/? Please don't be offended by what I'm saying next. I'm an extreme lore freak and like logic as much as Spock, so ignore me if either of these things would place me outside of the intended audience for the mod requested. Would the Dragonborn, a famous hero known for bringing victory, really be able to walk up to Tullius' friend and say "hey, I'm sorry I killed all of your comrades and ruined your life. Will you help me bring the Imperials back?" I imagine that Rikke(or whoever would be in the Bannered Mare) would take a good look at your face, recognise you, and run you through with an Imperial sword a few times. Also, why would the Dragonborn, after defeating one of the opposing factions engaged in civil war, decide to work with his or her enemies to undo all of the work done to kill them? I can't really think of any motive. I can understand being a player who wants to see the other faction's quest line, but switching sides after killing the opposing leader just doesn't make sense. If you don't want the Imperials or Stormcloaks to be killed off, don't join either faction, and just stay neutral in the war. You'll have to start a new game to stay neutral or fight for the Imperials, but Civil War Overhaul only works on a fresh save, and I imagine any other mods that affect the civil war as much as you want will require a new game as well. Basically, I'm telling you that I think you should start a new game. Take my opinion for what you will; I do not want to be offensive, and I understand that everybody wants a different experience in Skyrim.
