CommanderCrazy
In about 2 months, I will be recieving a large amount of cash, and its gonna be awesome. :D I will have around $450 to $500 to spend*, and need some ideas of a new motherboard and processor.Note: My case is a Thermaltake M9 (the V9 got a crack, though I should shelf it :( ) and the current mobo I have is a very...precise...fit. I doubt it was specially designed or anything, but the fit is so damn perfect in this case, I dont know what to think. Mobo is an Asus P5KPL-C, and I no longer want it. Damn its 4gb of ram maximum. *Possibly more, if I can place some money from my pay aside. Will keep updated. eldav
Buy a AMD mobo with am3 socket, that way you get great performance at very low cost
CommanderCrazy
But I also will need a new processor too. Heads up: This is where I get my components. link Also, will the AMD mobo fit in a half-tower?] EDIT: Will using an AMD mobo cause problems with my Nvidia GPU? Or is it all gravy between them? SECOND EDIT: Yes, it will fit. I have decided to go with:Mobo: Asus M4A87TD with USB3. Thats $100.Processor: Am3 x4 970 @ 3.5ghz, overclockable. Thats $205NEW CASE: Obsidian Series 800D. That cost me $85 new from ebay, already purchased. Edited April 1, 2011 by CommanderCrazy

Erik005
My advice is instead of the 970 get a 965 with a nice after market cooler.
CommanderCrazy
Why the 965? It has less power...
Erik005
It does not matter when you are going to overclock because they both have a free multiplier. You can even go with a 955, when you overclock them to 4.5Ghz it doesn't matter
CommanderCrazy
Yeah, but if the 970 has more power, then why wouldnt you? I appreciate the recommendations, but I cant see where you're coming from is all. Edited April 2, 2011 by CommanderCrazy
urbex
Yeah, but if the 970 has more power, then why wouldnt you? I appreciate the recommendations, but I cant see where you're coming from is all.Because while their stock clocks are different, they have nearly equal overclocking limitations.
