ninja_lord666
I'm never going to get the 360. I have X-box, and there are somany problems with it: it never reads the disks, when it does, half the time it thinks they're movies; it always crashes; etc. And looking at Microsoft's "improvement" in Vista, I'm assuming 360 is the same as its older self. PS3? Forget about it! I'm not spending all that money when it's simply going to sit there in the corner gathering dust! I rarely use consoles. The feature where you can play old games doesn't appeal to me. i only have 3 PS1 games, two of which I plan to sell. I hear the PS3 is quite good, but I don't think it's worth all the money. My dad bought the Wii and it's quite fun. However, it's more of a party console. The serious gamers should look somewhere else. As for its special features...Internet: sucks! it's slow as dail-up even with a cable connection. You can't watch movies.Shop: Even slower that the internet. The buttons don't always work either. One time my dad was looking at a game, but when he clicked the back button, the game started buying itself!Poll: You think people ask stupid questions here? Look at the Wii: Which color do you prefer? red or blue; Where would you rather live? The beach or The mountains; Which do you prefer? cats or dogs; Which do you prefer? The beach or The mountains? (yes the same was asked twice!)Pictures: Not bad, just useless.News: Quite good actually, better than most.Weather: again, not that bad.Overall, the reason I won't get it is just simply a lack of games... The PC is the best out of them all: better controls and modding capabilities. However, it still does have it's down sides. It can't really be used for multiplayer purposes with friends. Some games can be played online, but then you run into jerks who feel they should join in to, but ruin everything. Or, you could go through the hassle of setting up a lan network, but then you need multiple PCs and cords.
Guss
The 360 is a lot better than the xbox and your xbox has some big issues I see, also vista has fps issues with some games. ;)
Guest
It's clear some people here have strong feelings towards the subject. As for myself I don't really have a favourite, as all the systems have advantages and disadvantages. Personally I myself only own an xbox 360 at the moment (got it considerably cheaper than it goes for thanks to a great sale) and I am really enjoying it. As for the other 2, PS3 is far to expensive to even be considered and the wii just doesn't have enough on it yet (may consider getting one later, Brawl looks tempting). PC is great platform overall, and the only one I will consider for RTS games. However for the comments made about the PC's control's being superior, that is really based more on opinion. For RTS games I wholly agree with the sentiment, RTS games on consoles really are terrible. But for other games, I cannot relate. To give an example, I actually find FEAR far easier to control on 360 than I do on PC. This is because having the buttons all in one place makes the game far more accessible, rather than having them spread out among a keyboard and mouse. In my case anyway, having the game pad just makes the game more fun and less of an exercise in frustration (trying to always find a certain key in the middle of battle just makes things tedious). And yes I have one of those mice that has a few extra buttons on it, and yes I have customized everything to work the best way I can find, it still ends up being tedious for me. Now call me incompetent, stupid or whatever helps you sleep at night, but in the end I just find that in certain cases the controller just makes games more accessible and more fun. But then again I don't play games nearly as much as other people, and I am certainly not an online junky (I play maybe 1 hour online every week, if that). I just don't have the time to memorize or set a new control scheme for every game when I boot it up. I just wanna be able to jump into a game and play. As for fighting games, setting all the moves to hot keys would remove a lot of the challenge that those games present. I myself cannot get into these games for my lack of time and patience and would no doubt welcome the hot key idea (it would make the game so much easier for me, since tactics are more my thing). However I have many friends who love fighting games, and half the fun they have is memorizing combos (and then kicking my butt with them). I have to admit though, this aspect adds a lot of depth to the game that the more hardcore audience can explore. I can appreciate why people love console/arcade fighting games, I just can't relate with them. Now I am simply providing this so others may see my point of view, so don't get excited if you don't agree with me.
Karasuman
I used to like consoles, up until the current generation. I had both a PS2 and XBox (screw the fanboy BS). Sure consoles have their advantages, but in my opinion some of those advantages are diminishing. Reason for that is games now have the capability to be super-complex and customizable, which is a trait that definitely lends itself to the PC. It's true what was said about console games being dumbed down. They have to be. No matter what game it is you're playing, it's going to be exactly the same as the one your friend is playing on the same system, no modding and very little customizing. Consoles have limits that can never be compensated for. Devs are limited to the amount of textures and other visual flash they can use because a console is what it is. It'll never have more memory, a better graphics chip, or anything else (unless you illegally modify it). Speaking of modifying, how the hell can Sony or Microsoft or anyone else tell me what I can and can't do with a console I paid money for? Gateway doesn't tell me what I can do with my PC. Ford or Toyota don't tell me I can't open the hood and add extra parts or take certain ones out. It was said new consoles come out every 4 or 5 years, which is true. But if you ask me, a console's actual usable lifespan is about a year, especially in this age. By the time the XBox 360 was a year old, you could buy a very reasonably-priced PC that was technically at least on par (if not superior) in almost every way, and the PC has versatility that is unmatched by any console. Sure, it's more expensive to play games on a PC since you need to upgrade them every so often, but at least I have that option. Not so with a console. If I decide I don't feel like upgrading my PC anymore, then hey, I can go buy a console at that time. At least I can upgrade the PC if I feel a particular game is worth it. I just think the current crop of consoles is over-rated and cost way too much for me to consider buying one. Just my opinion.

kungfubellydancer
I never had a problem with 360, except sometimes its a bit sensitive to dvd scratches, and recently it crashed and is flashing a red light (first and only offense). But since we are still under warranty, we called the company, and they told us to put it in a box they are shipping us and ship it back so they can fix it. Easy. Then when they fix it, they'll send it back and we didn't even have to do anything, except go 360-free for a few days :( I'd say it looks likes Microsoft has good tech support (though its too early for final verdict) and the machine itself is pretty much maintenance free, and our family puts an average of 5-10 hours of game play per week on it. xenxander
Console games don’t have to be dumbed down for their users… okay, so graphics wise yes they do, but not in game content (and I am not talking about modding though that does make consoles harder to work with than PC games). What I am talking about is, remember when Morrowind came out for the console? They didn’t remove anything from the game (and with game of the year edition, they added the expansion packs and the official plug-ins). Then comes alone Oblivion, a game which we all know was ‘tailored’ for the console – and I find that an insult to console gamers (well at least my category of console gamer; sure the foamy-mouth, jittery, twitchy-finger console FPS (or even PC user for that matter) player will not like a game such as Morrowind, so they made Oblivion more action-adventure instead of RPG). There is this attitude that console gamers are … handicapped. That they just can’t seem to figure out complex strategies; but it wasn’t the case in the old days, such as when Mist game out for the playstation. I was actually quite happy when it did because at the time I didn’t have a good PC and I liked the neigh – impossible puzzles of Mist. I’m more a PC gamer myself – my consoles now a days collect more and more dust but ever once in a while I get a while hair growing ‘somewhere’ and decide it’s time to bust out an “oldie but goodie” game. I don’t have a need for a Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, it seems the console ‘charm’ has really left me. I find that sad because I was a very adamant SNES and NES gamer in my time and I wonder if that part of me has died… *sniffs*

xenxander
It's usually a fact that the first games that come out for consoles are sports or action games, becuase that's the larger market and they need a good game for the release date. don't confuse 'first release' games with good release games. when the X-box came out i asked what the first few game lineups would be and I sighed, because I 'expected' it to be Madden NFL and all the other pointless and crappy sports games (okay I'm sorry if there are sports games fans here really, but they just DON'T appeal to me). You have to wait for about half a year for a good strategy or RPG to hit a console, it's all about market share and the % of players. Still console RPG's DON'T have to be dummed down for console players because those who buy RGPs are in the MOOD for a good RPG, not an action / adventure game... And I know some of those games weren't "first release" but they are tailoring to the % market. But we, the smaller %, know we don't need dumbed down console games. And again, I'm a PC gammer mostely, but if a good RPG or strategy game comes out for a consoel, I DO buy it! Edit:oh and nija-Lord i know you have a habit of adamantly arguing when someone has an opinion different than your own, so all I will say about your tenancies is try to turn the volume down a little. I'm not insulting you, just pointing it out through your post history that this is a aspect of you that can get you strikes and forum banned.
