somerandomsheepthathops
ok i'm new to this "modding" stuff and i tried to download a fallout new vegas mod. i use google chrome and when i downloaded it it came up in notepad and i want to know how to get it into my fallout new vegas data files. please help do i need to download something? What do you mean? Did you try to open the esp file? If so it will come up in note pad, you just need to drag it and the folders that come with it (if there are any) into the falloutNV main directory which should looking something like this: C:/programfiles/steam/steamapps/common/falloutNV/data. Then again, I'm just taking a guess I don't have it on the computer. And yes, some mods require stuff like NVMM, NVSE, Archive invalidation invalidated!. bben46
When mods are downloaded they come in a compressed format such as 7z (7-zip) rar (winrar) or zip (winzip) in order to use them, they must be uncompressed (unzipped) first. The best program for that is the absolutely FREE 7-zip, and it's available right here on the nexus. http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579 7-zip will unzip just about any zipped file you come across. And it works with all of the formats you are likely to see on the nexus. it comes as a self extracting file, just download it and click on the file you downloaded to allow it to set itself up. When it asks about file associations answer yes to all. Now, the most common way to get a mod into your game is to use 7-zip (or whatever unzipping program you prefer) and extract it into the game data folder.
