Hionimi
Hi, silly idea that I came up while playing some other game (Amnesia: The Dark Descent.), but is it possible to have physical doors in Oblivion, using Havok, which can be moved by grabbing them? Perhaps not entirely useful unless it helps with peeking and not be detected when the player is sneaking, but it would be cool in my opinion. I just wonder if it would move without glitching and if it could be scripted to 'lock' when it nears closed state like the doors in Amnesia. Anyone know if this is do-able? ub3rman123
It could technically be done.. Ever seen the necromancy tapestries in the game? That's about how they'd behave.
Hionimi
Aye, I have, but when thinking about this I'm more thinking about the havok enabled signs some shops have, though those hang vertically, dunno if the physics might act funny if they were to hang horizontally. Also curious if the scripts could give physical items certain properties.
ub3rman123
Oh yeah, that'd be a better example. Didn't remember that. It takes special Havok properties to make the object hinge like that. I'm not sure of how an NPC will react to such a door though. They might just shove right through it.
Hionimi
That is true yes, now that's something I didn't think of, heh. Although, the NPCs already actually open the door normally, what if it is possible that when an NPC 'clicks' the door, it simply opens or closes through physics? That may work. This does start to sound awfully complicated though... Hmm...
Deleted1848331User
It'd be easy to do the grabbing part, but the scripting to close it when nearing original state and ending state, along with making it stay on the wall it's hinged to, may be difficult. It would also only work with interiors that have animated doors. Could be done with basements and upstairs, but then you would have to edit quests and move over the cell's contents. danielj97
I loved Amnesia, and especially the Physics. :) If someone implemented this into Oblivion it'd be epic! :)
