cchan0535
Hello everyone, As the title says, I'm having problems getting the script editor in the construction set to open a particular script and actually allow me to change it. It will open the script just fine, but it won't accept any changes to it (typing in the editor does nothing at all). I'm not having the problem with any other script that I'm aware of. I've looked everywhere, but I can't find any option that locks the script or anything like that, so I'm at a loss as to what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, cchan0535

Thanks, cchan0535 If you are trying to edit an ESM it won't allow it, If it is an esp, uncheck the header in the file that say's it's an esm and reload. That should work for you. cchan0535
Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. The mod header doesn't have the ESM tag and editing any of the other scripts in the mod works just fine. I've been messing around with it some more and discovered that I *can* make changes to the script as long as I highlight something first and type over it, but I'm limited in the amount of stuff the editor will allow me to type (it seems I can only replace characters, not add entirely new ones), which isn't very functional. The only thing I can figure is that this script is long (and terribly sloppy, which is what I'm trying to fix), around 1200 lines, and the editor is choking on it. I'm still new to Oblivion scripting, so I'm not sure what other options I have aside from the built-in editor, but if there's a way around this problem, I'd love to know it. Thanks again, cchan0535

Hickory
Download and install Notepad++ and the TES script definitions. Open the script and CTRL+A --> CTRL+C to copy it. Then in Notepad++ CTRL+V to paste it in. Set the language to TES Script and edit it. When you're finished editing, back in the CS open the script again and CTRL+A --> CTRL+V to paste over and save. cchan0535
Thanks Hickory, that plugin for N++ is great and pasting the whole script at a time into the editor works just fine. I appreciate the help!
