Well, for a while, I've just been requesting mods, and not doing a thing. But now, I'm gonna contribute to the community! The mod I'm planning is going to add 6 new Radio Stations to the game, along with quests, and two Special Guests who also happen to be returning this summer...

Stations number 1:

Wild Primm Radio

A station based near Primm, it plays 60's and early 70's Country Rock, Blues Rock, and Folk Rock. Hosted by Randy "Rawhide" Johnson, an ex Caravaneer with a knack for DJ'ing this station will have you aching for the south in no time!

Associate Factions: Crimson Caravan Company, Primm.

Quest: Hang 'em up, Rawhide Randy has been asked by the Crimson Caravan to "buy out" some rivals in the Region, but he doesn't have the heart. That's where you come in. You can either convince the rivals to leave with a barter or speech check, or just kill them.

Weekly Giveaway Item: .357 Magnum with plenty of ammo

Station 2: Great Khan Radio

Great Khan Radio plays late 60's biker tunes, since it goes well with their Hells-Angel-esque motif. Located far southeast of Red Rock Canyon. Hosted by Wyatt, a Great Khan. So, get your motor running, head out of the highway and all that good stuff.

Associate Factions: Great Khans

Quest: Easy Raider Wyatt has Gotten Threats from the NCR to cease and desist. You need to convince the head of NCR Radio and Entertainment in the region to let him keep the station.

Weekly Giveaway item: 10 Jet's, 5 Rocket's, and a Turbo.

Station 3: Roots Radio

This station plays Proto-Rock (Blues, Honky-Tonk, Boogie-Woogie). Hosted by Papa Fats, a Ghoul from before the war, and his Adopted daughter Layla, a refugee from a raider attack. The station can be found at the Very top of the map.

Quest: Rock and Rolls the Devils work, he wants you to rebel! The Kings are proof that Rock and Roll is evil! Their message is played across the Mojave, and soon kids want to be in gangs as well! You must destroy the Mr. Handy leader of Kings Radio for them!

Weekly Giveaway Item: BB Gun with a tonne of BB's

NCR Swing Radio:

The Station plays 20's-40's Big Band Swing. Located in a new part of the NCR embassy on the strip. It is hosted by Charlie Williams, the leader of the NCR Radio and Entertainment bureau.

Quest: No Negotiation with the fellas at the freaking NCRREB All the radio stations in the Region have been approved, except Black Mountain radio and Great Khan Radio. Taking out both will get you in the good-books with the NCR, and a sweet cash-money bonus.

Weekly Giveaway Item: Brahmin Steak, Wine and Service Rifle

Legion Musical Entertainment

Playing Roman-styled music, this station is the most advanced part of Legion Society. Hosted by Octavian Maxis, a Praetorian of Caesars legion. It is located near Cottonwood cove.

Quest: The Message of Caesar The Profligates need to hear the message of Caesar, immediately. Upload a holotape of Octavius's speech into Radio New Vegas, Mojave Music Radio, NCR Swing Radio, Wild Primm Radio, Kings Freeside Radio, and Roots Radio.

Weekly Giveaway Item: Legion Recruit Armor and Healing Powder

Kings Freeside Radio

Plays 50's and Early 60's Rock'N'Roll. Hosted by DANNY, an Elvis Impersonating Mr. Handy that The Kings found. It's located in the empty part of The Kings.

Quest: Only One can Rock The Kings need some more advertisement outside of Vegas, but the only Problem is the competitors in the Rock Department have the sponsorships already. Eliminate Wild Primm Radio and Roots Radio.

Weekly Giveaway Item: Switchblade, a dozen Nuka Cola's and a Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Cap.

And, finally, the special guests....

Beavis and Butthead do New Vegas

Everybody's favorite idiots are coming back to MTV (perhaps their idiocy might rival the Jersey Shore) so what better way to celebrate than to include them in this mod totally unrelated to them! In this mod, Beavis and Butthead are two stupid NCR teeangers who got bored, so they joined the Followers of the Apocalypse because they thought it would help them score. They were sent to the Old Mormon fort, but where sent away after a week because they sold a bunch of confiscated drugs to a Female Chem addict for in exchange for showing them her breasts. They now preside in North Vegas square, supposedly to provide aid there, however they mostly just sit on their couch listening to the radio and making comments about the current song.

Quests: (note, quests in quotations are unmarked) 'Can you Like, fix our Radio or something?" Fix Beavis and Buttheads radio.

Scoring Nobody wants to do these two, even most prostitutes don't. That's why you need two find two that will!

Services: Beavis is a "Doctor" and Butthead is a "Addictions Treatment Specialists." However, they can only sell you stuff. Beavis sells you stimpaks and "This mold that grows in bath tub." and Butthead can only sell you fixer.

And even if you hate the duo, you can kill them over, and over again in new ways, so everybody is happy!

Anyways, it's going to be a while until this is finished, so use this topic to give ideas and recommendations.

Where you gonna get the music?

Legally. Some of it bought on iTunes, some taken from CD's.

Won;t be legal if you distribute it. One sec Let me get the signal.

You can;t reproduce their stuff for other people to use. For yourself, have at it.

There could be a fair use argument, depending on how much of the music you used, what you did with it, and what the effect on the original works value would be. And what country you are in. Otherwise public domain is the safest bet. There are also plenty of places where musicians release their works publicly. You just wouldn't have any "top forty" type stuff.

Yes, music copyright sucks, and it's been heavily abused by the big music companies, who have also been ripping off the actual makers of the music for years. But it is the law. And as you are a small target and might be overlooked by the greedy lawyers hired by the music companies, TheNexus is much bigger and easy to target. So, as we don't want to be sued or shut down, we cannot allow mods with copyrighted music.

The ignorant music company execs just don't get it. Nobody buys plastic records anymore. I am an old 50s and 60s listener and I retired my turntable some years ago. Allowing use in game mods is not going to cut into their obscene profits. It is another way for people to hear about the music so they will buy it. Just in case some music exec wanders into this site by accident - It's called FREE advertising. Look it up.

I do not pirate music. However, I have NOT purchased music that subsidizes the music execs in years. Not since I saw how they were withholding royalties and juggling the books to keep from paying artists for years. Even now, with digital distribution, they still withhold an amount from royalties for non existent breakage and unsold 'records' supposedly returned to non existent warehouses. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f351/charonn0/ohgeez-1.gif I will buy second hand, but not new.

Nananananananananana Copywrite! Copywrite!

The only music you can use is public domain music. There is some you can find out there but you have to be very careful.

I believe there are a few public domain tracks on Roots Radio and NCR Swing Radio.

I figure I could get around this though. If a lawyer comes around here, he wont know the tracklist has copywrite if he/she can't see the list. And they'd have to download the mod to see it, but what are the chances they own New Vegas? I could possibly get away with this!
