Odd Sneak Penalty

For some bizarre reason, I have a -125 point penalty on my sneak skill. Sneak is one of my major skills, so I don't need a combined skill of negative 56 points. As far as I can tell, there are no effects being activated on me that would cause this.

Remove every piece of clothing, every ring, every amulet... everything. Then press F3 and go to the last (effects) tab. Do you have any negative effects?

If the above doesn't help: I'm not familiar with the details of the mod, but check for effects from things like the Hypothermia mod, as I would expect a chill or a fever to add shivering effects, which in turn SHOULD affect your sneak skill badly.

Thanks Hickory, I'll try that.

I've thought of that, Mark, and getting a warm up bonus from a fire is supposed to negate the penalty from hypothermia-only apparently it doesn't.

Edit: at the moment, the only negative effects I have are "curse of the consumed", which goes with a mission & "stunted magicka" which goes with my starsign.

Try opening up the console and typing:

 

Player.SetAVMod Sneak script 0

 

If your sneak skill goes back up to what it should be, then you got your sneak penalty from a script. That's about all I can say, since I don't know anything about the mods you're using. Also, you probably shouldn't save after doing that, in case there's a good reason for why you have that.
