sora3
Hi guys, my first technical help post. Anyway, this is regards to Dead Money. I was able to purchase it a few weeks back. But I didn't get started until now. It has loaded in game and I head over to Sierra Mandre. However, as soon as I finish talking to Father Elijah, the game instantly crashes and I can't get any further. I have disabled all of the mods I have, Steam Cloud and as well as using various saves at various points. All are not successful. If anyone wants to know, my machine can run New Vegas stably with the mods I've loaded so far. And the specs are below: AMD Phenom II 940 BEAMD Radeon 6850Gigabyte MA790GP-DS4H4GB Kingston DDR2 RAM Everything is at stock ATM. So I was wondering if there has been a fix for Dead Money so far? KennethKarl
I am almost certain that your computer's stats have nothing to do with it. I had the same exact problem, and I have 8GB of RAM and a Quad-Core processer. Are you running the pip-boy Readius mod? That what was mucking up my Dead Money. I don't know why but when I unistalled it and went back to the ugly Pip-Boy 3000 it worked fine. There is a lot of emphasis on the pip-boy in this DLC. I hope I have helped you somewhat. Oh BTW: When I had this issue I did the same thing unistalling every mod (Good Thinking ;D). However my readius mod had textures and meshes that remained even though I unistalled the esp. Hope that helps. Good Luck In the future. P.S. I loved Dead Money! Don't listen to the dumbass reveiws. While its true that you can't return to the Sierra Madre after you beat it... THERES A MOD FOR THAT!!! :D Edited April 6, 2011 by Gaius_Ignatius
sora3
Well, tried what you did Gaius and it still crashed so I'm guessing something else is causing the error. And this is with the uninstalling of all the meshes for the Pip-boy. At this rate, I'm purely frustrated that something doesn't work despite all that has been done. KennethKarl
I'm sorry I couldn't be any more help than telling you what you already know. Let me assure you that I have spent many a night battling with New Vegas tweaking it to make it work. Sometimes I think I spend more time doing that than actually playing it. Then I come here for help and I get my prior knowledge sent directly into my face. I feel your pain. It shouldn't be so difficult to get this game to work. This game has more bugs than a matress in a landfill. ANYWAY!...The only other thing I can imagine is.......... REINSTALLATION!! Don Don Daaa!! It's a drastic measure but It should work. Keep trying to fix it before/if you do that. I have done it once before and it worked. Good Luck. ;)
sora3
Well, I tried a reinstallation Gaius and I get an instant CTD which is pissing me off to no end. First it was Dead Money that crashes, now it's the bloody engine itself crashes. If you smell smoke, fire isn't too far away. :( Drivers aren't the problem as I've used these drivers since and no crashes/glitches with other games. I've uninstalled it and deleted all instances of Fallout New Vegas. Probably wait until I upgrade the desktop before I try again. I'm getting a bit tired that Obsidian isn't doing anything to help and being caught up in doing DLCs when they should be fixing the DLCs instead... >>
junjo75
Im also getting a CTD at the fountain. It seems to happen right when Elijah finishes talking to you and the first Dead Money quest is given. Ive unchecked all mods and dismissed all my companions. I cant seem to get Dead Money to work. Ive researched about a dozen threads on here...reading through all of them and it still seems to be a mystery on why this is happening.

junjo75
I took a look at the community fixes site you just posted, but I dont see anything specific toward Dead Money. It all seems to be for F3 and the original FNV (without any DLC's)of course i had to look at a google english translation, so the web page was a little messed up. there was a reference to Dead Money on that page (way back in February I think?) that said someone was working on a community fix for that DLC, but I couldnt find a link to anything related to Dead Money...
